“the best spot on our whole vacation!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 21, 2011

I can't say enough how amazing Tuckamore Lodge and Barb were!! It may seem like it's in the middle of nowhere but that's part of the charm. Barb decided we wouldn't have enough room in the one we were assigned (it would have been cozy but we would have survived) so she gave us the room next door too! The food and the service beat anything we had anywhere on the island. You MUST stay there and make sure to have the dinners too. Breakfast is included and also a very hearty meal. The bar has been set very high. It is the bar against my kids and husband and I will measure all other accomodations!!

Stayed here for three nights. Barb, Celie, and the ladies in the kitchen could not have been nicer. Room was clean, property was well maintained. Perfect for fishing, hunting, or as a base for touring the area.
No menu for meals--you eat what they cook--but they do their best to please.

Stayed here for just one night and wished we could have stayed longer. There is something very relaxing about the Tuckamore Lodge, and the rooms quaint and the staff friendly. I chose the Lodge from these reviews and was glad that I did. My partner was also very impressed with the scenery and we saw lots of moose on the roads nearby.

This was my first visit to northern Newfoundland, but it won't be my last. Tuckamore Lodge is located in the heart of great salmon fishing, moose hunting and sightseeing. It took us about 4 hours to get there from Deer Lake. We traveled through Gros Morne, the great National Park which is named for a rather large mountain that is well known for its beautiful scenery. We arrived at the lodge at 6PM. It is situated on a small lake and a nearby stream flows into the sea. The lodge is beautiful! The food and the wines are excellent- the menu reflects the local cuisine as we dined on fish and caribou. We met people who had traveled there to see the Viking encampment at L'Anse aux Meadows and others who were arriving in time for the opening of moose season. It is hard not to be attracted by the friendly atmosphere of the lodge and its staff. The rooms are very clean and the main dining and living area is excellent for relaxation and tales of the great outdoors!

My husband saw this lodge featured on the fishing channel and booked three days here with a guide. I planned to catch up on reading. We were both successful. The lodge is fairly traditional (new) log construction with generous public areas and nice rooms. Most guests, including several from Europe, were not fishing. The staff were exceptionally flexible and accommodating. I recommend booking dinner--home-cooked meals are excellent and restaurants are fairly distant on moose traveled roads.

We happened upon Tuckamore during a heavy rain storm and decided to check in for a night. What a wonderful decision that turned out to be. The Inn and rooms are quite lovely and comfortable and the Inn looks out on a very lovely lake. We couldn't have asked for a more wonderful hostess. Barb went out of her way to make us feel comfortable, even helping us out with some laundry. We met many interesting folks and had great conversations during dinner and breakfast. This was really a wonderful place to stay!
