This was our first trip to Newfoundland. My husband and I had no idea where to headquarter while spending time away from St. John's. We settled on Bonavista because the location looked perfect. We stayed at Abbott's Cape Shore B and B and were very happy we did. Preston and Rowena have a small home but in that home have created two very nice rooms with ensuite bathrooms. They welcome you into their home and make you feel like part of the family but at the same time allow you as much privacy as you want. Our room was clean and very comfortable though not spacious. The Abbotts are both native to the area, and we loved visiting with them about their community and surrounding area. There are many interesting historical places to visit right in Bonavista so we ended up staying in and very close to town for the two full days we were there and did not take day trips out of town like we originally thought we might. It would be fun to return and we would stay at the Abbotts again. Yes, there are religious items in the living room, making it apparent that this is an important part of their lives, but it never came up in conversation and we did not feel uncomfortable because of it.
