“Lovely B&B Experience”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 11, 2013

My husband and I stayed at McLaughlins for 2 nights this summer. My favorite part was the view out our window. The tides were incredible to watch ranging from small boats going by to mud. Our room was completely clean as were the shared bathrooms. We had the place to ourselves which was a lot of fun. Brenda was very accommodating and very kind. Breakfast especially the scones was wonderful. We had to leave early the second morning so she packed food including those scones to take with us. We had lunch there too which was equally as delicious. My husband particularly enjoyed his macaroni and cheese. We walked down to the beach from McLaughlins which was a very pleasant walk. The weather was rainy one day, and we were very relaxed in our room. This was definitely a special experience.

My wife and I stayed here in mid August for a getaway Canadian trip. We couldn't have been happier. Our room was neat and clean with a nice view out into the harbor. The shared bathrooms, which also were neat and clean, weren't an issue. Staff was extremely friendly and the breakfast was fantastic. A highlight was sitting out on the large deck with a cup of coffee enjoying the morning sun and chatting with other guests.

Room Tip: The inn was a nice, quiet place to relax. The rooms over the deck provide a nice view of the water w...

My husband and I visited Grand Manaan for 4 days. We chose McLaughlins for an authentic warf atmosphere and thoroughly enjoyed every minute at this charming B&B. Our spacious room had a comfortable queen bed w good pillows, a refrigerator, and great views out to the pier where we watched the extreme tides ebb & flow. Everything about the inn was immaculate including the two full bathrooms upstairs, and a feeling when you stepped in from the outside that you were "home" away from home. Sharing a bathroom was never a problem and you receive fresh towels and bath mats each day. They all take great pride in doing things the right way there in service, cleanliness, comfort, and friendship!

Owner Brenda McLaughlin, her talented culinary son, and Ann all went out of their way to accommodate and ensure our continued comfort during our stay. Brenda cooks a delicious complimentary breakfast that is very satisfying, good coffee, and the tiny blueberries in season a real treat! We came back for a welcoming atmosphere for lunch dining on hearty fish and lobster chowders, tasty scallop salads & pork sandwiches her son makes.

We plan on making McLaughlins our choice to stay when on Grand Manaan, enjoying a quiet retreat from the busier part of the island and sharing good conversation with such friendly interesting staff. Thank you Brenda!!!!!

We stayed two days in midJuly this year. Very clean and comfortable accommodations right on a wharf with just the very best location on a miniharbour. Brenda, the owner was kind, welcoming and we had an excellent breakfast. Because of a very early start the next day we were going to be far too early for breakfast but Brenda made up a yummy portable meal for us to take. Very happy to recommend this fine place. Barry Z.

My husband, his sister and her daughter (all Nova Scotians) and I (a Vancouverite) recently went on a trip to Grand Manan Island. None of us had ever been there before. We stayed at McLaughlin's Wharf, a lovely inn on a working wharf. We were able to watch the tide come in and go out from their back deck, which was very relaxing. Breakfasts were included and were very good, always with some fresh baking. Although they are no longer open for dinners, we came back for lunch each day of our stay, and each of our lunches was delicious. I opted for the warm scallops on a salad on the first day, and the special on the second day, which was tomato soup with dill and the best fish burger I've ever had, made with haddock. Brenda McLaughlin made us feel very welcome and at home. Although the 2 bathrooms are shared between 6 rooms, there was never a problem with that. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay, and would highly recommend the inn as a place to stay, and definitely as a place to go for lunch.

We stayed two nights and were made to feel very welcome. The Inn is very clean and the included breakfast is good. As mentioned by others, the location is a small inlet and views in all directions are of buildings related to the fishing industry. The water comes and goes with Fundy tides, mostly two small streams when we saw it--no working boats and no views of navigatable water but we might have missed highest tide. The area is very quiet although the walls in the Inn are a bit thin. I definitely recommend it for someone who wants to get away from the crowds.

Brenda McLaughlin, the owner, welcomed us to McLauglin's Wharf in late June, before the Inn officially opened for the season on July 1. My twin eight year old girls and I spent two nights and had the most wonderful time. The fog was terribly thick the night we arrived but we were warmly received and made to feel right at home. The rooms are very comfortable; we had a corner room with views of Seal Cove from two vantage points. Seal Cove is particularly scenic and I made McLaughlin's Wharf our destination based on a previous visit when I fell in love with the area. The children and I dug for clams at low tide and went beachcombing the next day for shells and sea glass. Breakfasts were wonderful. We requested and received oatmeal and poached eggs, done to perfection. The Inn has a very pleasant common room with a TV and small kitchen for guests which we enjoyed using. Brenda generously let us spread out our paints in the diningroom so we could paint puffins and owls on the rocks we had collected. We concluded our visit by writing a note and putting it in a bottle which we launched out to sea in the Cove the morning that we left. Next time we will plan to stay longer. Don't be discouraged by the fog in my photos. I have been at McLaughlin's Wharf in lovely sunshine. It is beautiful in all weather.
