“A great stay in the park!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 week ago

I was a little apprehensive booking a chalet for my wife and I. Turns out my worries were unfounded and my wife absolutely loved it. The cabins are in a beautiful and scenic location, overlooking the bay. Grouped into clusters, the cabins were clean and had charm. Never heard any neighbors although the place was booked solid. Easy distance to downtown Alma and all of the park although the hill is a good climb by bike. The owners met us at check-in and had great recommendations on local restaurants, their favorite less-used places to see and hike. Definitely book early as they do fill up during the main summer season. I suspect its easier on the shoulder seasons.

Room Tip: Book early, but overall a fantastic experience.

I've stayed here four times in four years, three times solo in the inn and once with a friend in a chalet.

If you're looking for excellent value, a great site, and a welcome atmosphere, you've found a lovely destination here. Like other returning guests, I can't write a review without it centring on the wonderful hosts, Anne-Marie and Pierre. They're not only two of the kindest and accommodating (no pun intended!) people I've met, but they work tirelessly to ensure that guests are content, comfortable, and welcome. They are also both very knowledgable about the Fundy region, and have no shortage of helpful suggestions if you're looking to go out and explore.

The rooms in the inn are quaint, clean, and the basic kitchen is stocked with pots, pans, and utensils. There is a stove, a small fridge, and a microwave, so if you're coming down from Moncton, stop at the Riverview Superstore and pick up supplies! If not, the Harbourview store in Alma has basic foodstuffs.

Hummingbirds buzz around the backlawn, and you can enjoy them while sipping a beverage on the balcony that overlooks the Bay of Fundy. If it's dusk or dawn, you're likely to spot a deer or two in the swale of grass down near the back of the yard.

The location is right in the middle of the park, so you can access the upper lakes and trails with ease, or coast on down to the shore at low tide and walk a mile out into the Bay of Fundy. A truly beautiful spot is Point Wolfe cove, in the southern tip of the Park. Early this summer, access to the beach was closed due to a spring washout of the wooden boardwalk/steps, but it should be repaired soon. Herring Cove beach is a sweet spot to go instead, and you might even find that you have the entire cove to yourself.

Great eats in Alma, all suggested by Pierre and Anne-Marie: The Harbourview Market restaurant, particularly the homemade Seafood Chowder. Lobster pasta at the Octopus' Garden (make sure you sample the Mermaid Bait -- a sweet dessert square that my family and friends demand I bring home to them when I'm in Fundy!). My own favourite spot is about 40 min,.away: the Hopewell Rocks country kitchen restaurant has a mouth-watering lobster roll, and the prices are always reasonable there. The family who runs the restaurant are warm, welcoming folk.

Spent two days at this cabin in June 2014. Was overall happy with the visit. The cabin was clean, with a rustic feel. Should be noted that this place is not a Holiday Inn, and is closer to staying in a cabin in the woods than a hotel. We also felt that the beds could use updating in the future and outside of the cabins could use some updating with paint and repair.

We spent 4 nights in a chalet. The accommodation was clean, very thoughtfully arranged with 2 beds, bathroom with shower and a kitchen with microwave, coffee maker, stove ( no oven), with attractive plates, bowls and full utensils. Satellite TV is available in the motel section. The chalet had a small TV with a DVD player. They have a stock of DVDs available. What made the stay so pleasant was the fastidious attention by the owners Pierre and Marie. The Highlands is located within the Fundy National Park, which has many trails. Not to be missed. And it is a short hop to downtown Alma with some very nice restaurants and freshly prepared lobsters. The tidal surges of 30 to 40 feet are fascinating. Any stay you make will make you still say you wished you had stayed longer.

This place was easy to find, just up around the corner from the parc entrance, and has without a doubt, THE best views of the bay of fundy from any accommodations in the area. Anne-Marie and Pierre are extremely helpful, friendly and knowledgeable, making you feel welcome and comfortable. My cabin was nestled in the hillside and had a serene and picturesque view of the bay by day, and a breathtaking view of the star-lit sky by night. The cabin is better equipped than other places I've stayed in major tourist centres: it is cozy and comfy and extremely well designed. I would not consider staying anyplace else in the area and have recommended it to many friends and colleagues who have been equally impressed.

Room Tip: Cabin 22 has a great view and privacy, and Cabin 21 has the same with a more private deck.

The cabin we used was timber lined and very comfortable with a lot of homely, cosy atmosphere. The chalets were built in the 1950s but have been really well maintained. Likewise the motel suites which are somewhat larger. The kitchen was small but had good equipment. Unfortunately we could only stay for one night here and missed the opportunity to use any of the longer trails and park, which still had a large amount of snow (early May). The nearest town, Alma, does not have much to offer in fresh food except seafood which is excellent through a couple of fisheries. The lobster is excellent and scallops the best we had on the coast. The owners of the resort are very enthusiastic and helpful.

Room Tip: We had chalet no 6 up on the top of the resort giving a great view of the coast and away from the ce...

Arrived here after getting rained out of our campground by a tropical storm - were thrilled to be here! Stayed in chalet #5 which was very comfortable for us. Clean, quiet and with a well furnished kitchen. Loved the location, just outside of Alma and the VIEWS from our chalet's patio were wonderful! Saw one of the best sunrises of our lives!
