“A little over the top...”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed April 30, 2012

Have been to France often and appreciate that French portions are smaller but only 1 stalk of asparagus and a parsnip souffle as a side? My poor teenager stopped for burgers afterwards. The menu seemed like the chef tried to have as many different foods as possible.

“Yum”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 27, 2012

Amuse used to be located in Shawnigan Lake village but has open up on the winery on Cameron Taggert road.

The traditional home has been upgraded and boasts original hardwood floors, wainscotting, a lovely sunroom with windows that can be open. The surround grape vines show promise of what is to come, along with a duck pond and a wine tasting chalet

The food can be ordered a la carte, with a daily fresh sheet, or 3, 4,5 course meals with wine pairings.

My husband who enjoys a traditional meat and potatoes menu was blown away with his salmon and I had the braised beef. The chef brought out little amuse bouche and palate cleansers, such as mint and cucumber ice.

Worth the drive and stay in a local B&B or head down to Cowichan Bay at the Oceanview suites.

Reservations highly recommended. We were there on a whim and were promptly seated close to a cosy fireplace. It was a sunny beautiful day and the place oozed with rich flavours, excellent service and a local wine.

“Food could be much better”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed March 4, 2012

I got the pear and hazelnut crepe, it was over cooked and was very bland. I expected much more with this restaurant. I am throughly disappointed.

“This Resturant is Moving to a Better Location”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed January 11, 2012

I hope their new digs are better. I think the food could be good in a better setting.
