“Charming place, fabulous view, and great service”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 24, 2014

Flew from Toronto with my family to this nice place . At the check In, the resort desk staff were very helpful to deal with a reservation error with RCI. The resort management tried to accommodate us and gave us different options until the RCI issue is resolved . That was the only hard thing we encountered . Afterwards, all was excellent , the resort mgmt. moved us to a stunning ocean view apartment with all facilities. The apartment is very good , the view is fabulous , and all resort facilities are great. We spent a great week in this charming resort and stunning nanoose bay. Thanks to all resort team especially Nicole.

Just wanted to say we had a fantastic time at the resort. The staff were eager to help! Our little kiddos had lots of room to play inside the room when it rained in our one bedroom. I forgot my new liter shampoo and conditioner and called right away to ask if they could send it with our friend who was a guest there. Unfortunately they were tossed but they replaced them with new Bottles. Thank you!

My husband & I are enjoying a relaxing week here. The grounds are beautifully landscaped & we have a fabulous view from our dining, living & master bedroom. You can even see the view while soaking in the Jacuzzi bathtub looking thru the glass fireplace. The food at the on-site restaurant, The Landing, was a very pleasant surprise both at dinner & Sunday brunch. Today I enjoyed the wonderful spa, Aqua Terre, without having to get into a car, while my hubby swam laps in the indoor pool. We hope to return in the fall.

We reserved a 2 bdrms thru RCI. Check in was smooth and quick. The rooms were in #700 bldg on the main flr. Heard fr past reviews that RCI exchanged dont get the best view and that was true with us. It is hard to appreciate the ocean view as all we had on main flr was shrubs and trees. Couldnt tell when is hi or low tide from the window. Strangely, the 2nd and 3rd floors had couple of empty suites. Don't understand why they don't let us experience what it is like staying at the resort or enjoy a nice cup of tea or coffee on the balcony. Who knows may even enjoyed a nice sunset. So my comment is only for the inside of the resort.
The 2 bdrm is nice at a 3 star level. Ample space for 4-5 people. If we had the 1 bdrm, the bdrm would have been smaller vs the hotel or studio which is bigger and that is the 2nd bedrm. Nice sized bathroom and a workable kitchen. Free wifi w/separate password for each room. Bed is comfortable but the pillows are really bad. More for decorative purpose. Not comfortable to sleep on.There are 3 hot tubs located outside w/pool and a gym. We were able to use all the facilities. What we really like about this resort is that it's in the bay area and at low tide, the Pacific Oysters are in full bloom. So many to pick and choose. Just ensure that you get a tidal license and keep within your daily limit. According to DFO, this area 17-19 is ok to harvest together with manila clams. I was into oysters and there was hardly anyone to compete except for the seagulls. Make sure you have thick gloves and a chisel. Shuckled them if you plan to eat very soon or freeze it which is good for 2-3 months. Lots of Iron and B12, gd esp for those with thyroid issue.

Room Tip: RCI may be able to help with better room location request but I doubt.

Room Tip: Try to get a room overlooking the ocean, you won't be sorry.

We recently stayed at the Pacific Shores for a week on an RCI exchange – the property is still as beautiful as our last stay but some things have changed as indicated in other reviews.

I don’t know if it is because the property is in receivership and being managed by a management company that the hot tub by the main pool was not working, that there was no information given at check-in, no book in the room to give direction etc. At check in we were given two keys to our room and that was it – we only knew where to put our garbage because we had stayed there before. Our dishwasher did not work and we did not want to report it while we were there as we did not want to spend our vacation having someone come in and out of our suite. So, we reported it at check out. I must say that I went to the front desk to ask for another large pot as the one in the room had loose handles and was not safe to use in my opinion and to ask for more garbage bags and they were promptly delivered to our room. Also, in the evening we would see a young man walking the grounds to check for things that needed attention – one evening replacing a bulb that had burned out in one of the lights that come on in the evening on the grounds in the front. This must be a very stressful time for the employees not knowing what is happening with their jobs. Everyone we dealt with was very helpful – Jennifer at the front desk who I spoke with before we left home and Lorraine who is in housekeeping and has been at the resort for years. On the Saturday they put a note on our door to ensure that we knew that we would be changing to day light savings time which was great as check out is early (10a.m.).

We ate breakfast at Ricki’s before catching the ferry to come home – the usual breakfast fare – nothing outstanding.

I always cook when we have a condo – when you have an amazing view, it is a bonus. Enjoyed our morning coffee and evening glass of wine looking at the ocean. Thrifty’s and Quality Foods are great places to do your grocery shopping. We always bring our own food staples from home and I always have a frozen meal or two to take with us when we travel by car.

We made our usual trip to Coombs and agreed that it is better in the summer. There were a lot of places that were closed and other had notices on their door that they were planning on retirement after the summer season. We always enjoy our trip to the Island but do not go that often with the cost of the ferry being so expensive – but having said that we did not have to pay plane fare and be shuffled around at the airport like a bunch of cattle!!

Stayed here by way of an RCI exchange. New management on property has made improvements, such as better wifi. The facility is very clean and has ample supplies, such as in the kitchen. Some of the furnishings still need to be upgraded but there is a plan in place to bring it all up to Gold Crown status. The setting is beautiful and there is lots to do in Parksville.
