“Mold and filthy pool”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed November 18, 2012 via mobile

The grounds are beautiful. The staff is nice and certainly helpful. The restaurant has some great options for food and is reasonably priced compared to similar places in town. However, early in the morning arriving at the indoor pool, I noticed all sorts of dirt along the pool deck and severe mold along the length of the ceiling. The pool itself looked in dire need of a cleaning as there was build up all along the sides and the bottom of the pool. The ceiling was dripping water from the moldy spots.

Dear valuable guest,

We regret that the pool condition at the time of your visit was not up to our regular standards. There had been a mechanical malfunction, with water leaking. Since then the pool area is refurbished and a new cedar ceiling is put in. We are confident that at your next visit you will see significant improvement.

This "resort" was reserved as a timeshare exchange. We were assigned a smallish hotel-style room with one king bed and a fold out couch, a toaster, coffee maker and fridge. We asked for and got, after several false starts, a microwave. So much for the "kitchen". The desk help was friendly but by and large helpless. It seems the place is undergoing constant management changes which lead to major uncertainties. And there is ongoing construction adjacent to our 200 building. The small window view was a narrow tunnel out to some trees, no peek at the water. Bathroom sink was a modern "salad-bowl" type with no drain stopper. Hard to wash dishes in and impossible for a youngster to reach for brushing his teeth. What were they thinking! Electrically-operated gas fireplace was a nice touch as was spa-type tub. Wi-Fi internet access very good when functional but kept crashing. Isolated location was quiet.

We regret we did not meet your expectations. As we have responded earlier on this web site, it is important to be sure to book the room type you expect, we have hotel rooms as all-suite rooms. Your confirmation would have detailed exactly what your room included, and would not have mentioned a microwave or other cooking facilities.

Our staff were able to assist by locating a microwave for you. They are naturally limited in what they can do since the suite you booked did not include a microwave.

We agree that the hotel rooms are not suited to extensive cooking and dishwashing, and hope you will return to a one or two bedroom unit. We would like to clarify that while there is additional land to build more units, there is no construction, nor any planned in the near future.

This is a very nice resort. We stayed in the 200 building which is the newest, I was told. A one bedroom, very clean, roomy, well appointed. Kitchen was well supplied and even had a good variety of seasonings. The king size bed was so comfortable. We had a nice view of the estuary and Craig Bay. Lots of ducks and Canadian geese. The trails around the resort, gave you a beautiful view of the bay. The fall colors were beautiful.
The restaurant "The Landing" had excellent food and their staff was exceptional. They have a "early dinner" menu from 4pm to 530pm which had a nice variety and a little less expensive. I would definitely recommend this resort

We had a girls weekend at Pacific Shores. We enjoyed the kitchen for breakfast, then went for a walk, some of us for a run, around the area and enjoyed the sights. We then headed to the spa. When finished with the spa we headed into Qualicum for some browsing and shopping. Then back to our room for some appetizers then to "The Landing West Coast Grill" for dinner. Great time to catch up with old friends and enjoy "Beautiful B.C."

Room Tip: We stayed in the 200 block and it is quite new and we had great views of the ocean.

I have stayed at Pacific Shores on several occasions. It is an excellent resort. All the facilities are first class . The staff are very professional and are always most helpful and attentive to the wishes of the guests. The pools are very nice for relaxation. There are many interesting walks. The weekly garden tour around the professional gardens is excellent- a botanic paradise on Vancouver Island. The units are well kept. Altogether- a first class destination.

Room Tip: There are various types of units depending on the visitors' needs.

We stayed for a nice three day weekend get-away to enjoy the fall colours and scenery of Vancouver Island. Our accommodation was a large kitchen unit in the "200" block, along the tidal estuary. The accommodations were very comfortable and quite spacious, at least for two adults and we appreciated the gas fireplace in the evenings. The resort grounds are exceptionally attractively landscaped with native plants. I'm sure the gardens would look really great in the summer time. We found the front desk staff friendly and helpful. The spa looked nice but we didn't use it on this visit. The restaurant (The Landing) is really special complete with large fish tanks and a cozy fireplace. Casual but sophisticated dining. It was a nice weekend retrst and we will definitely plan another visit!

Room Tip: Try and get the "A" unit if possible as the kitchens are well equipped. The "B"...

A perfect place to enjoy beautiful west coast scenery in luxury accommodation. The staff are friendly, efficient and responded immediately to any questions and concerns. Swimming, kayaking, outdoor hot tubs, walks along the beach or through the trees of adjoining nature reserve, fine dining or a trip to the spa offer relaxation with a hint of romance. Good outdoor play areas and pool times for children. A romantic getaway or a family adventure - it's all here.
