“The hidden gem of Comox”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 22, 2013

Every summer we look forward to visiting the Tea House. We go either for lunch or afternoon tea, as they do both quite well. The relaxed, informal atmosphere is great and suitable for familes as well as ladies who lunch. For us, what elevates the experience is the location. I am frankly a bit surprised at the review "Disappointed", with the reviewer expressing their disappointment in the location. I can't think of anything nicer than having a meal in the shade on a waterfront lawn, surrounded on three sides by a lovely park. Yes, you have to walk in but it is not a long walk. That there is no parking lot right next to you makes it even more special.
The food is very tasty. - and fear not, it is not crème fraîche served with the scones.

“Disappointed!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed July 25, 2013

Grounds are nice but not exceptional. The most charming part is all the old log buildings which unfortunately were not open to the public, as least on the day I was there. The Lodge is open to the public a few days a week too, again not the day I was there.

The grounds and buildings were really not my interest. I went for the tea which sounded divine on their website: tea and scones served by the sea! This was very disappointing: scones with crème fraiche? tea served in a mug? the waiter, while pleasant, in shorts and a T-shirt? This attire is not fitting of the venue! And having arrived at 1:30, I was not able to order the tea with goodies which starts at 2 pm and is only for 2; it can’t be divided in half.

There is no parking lot so you must park and walk in. There are 2 entrances: one on Comox St. and one near the end of Filberg Rd.

The best part was the baby fawn posing for photographers! And the trees are all identified.

“Beautiful scenery, great friendly service, and good food at a great price.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 11, 2013

I went to the Tea House last week with my girlfriend, with a gift certificate for two lunches. They were extremely busy but were very accommodating to us. The view was spectacular and the relaxed outdoor setting was perfect. We ordered a platter of assorted cheeses and bread that completely disappeared and a shrimp croissant that was, light, refreshing, and delicious. Hard to say for most shrimp sandwiches. Importantly the shrimp were fresh and lightly seasoned which allowed their flavor to come through. The dessert was a strawberry short cake that melted in my mouth. A really great experience. Recommended.

“Love this place”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 31, 2012

The Filberg Lodge Tea House is a lovely place for a stroll and some lunch. It is situated on huge grounds, with traditional buildings and gardens all around it. Often weddings are held among the beautiful flowers. You can see deer and other animals around, and when you reach the Tea House, you are on a nice ocean front lawn. There are out door tables in the shade and some benches by the sea.
The food is tasty and simple light lunch fare. I loved the Baby Shrimp Croissant and the Pulled Pork Sandwich. There is also a great selection of desserts, coffee and of course, teas.
Wonderful for mothers day, brunches or just a nice afternoon out. I love the Tea House.
