“Satisfactory hotel”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed August 23, 2012

Adequate place for family visit but hotel heading for refurb. Frayed discoloured carpets and use of low energy light bulbs that took some time to warm up gave a slight dingy feel. Central location next to to main ski lift.

My fiance and I had booked a room here over the weekend and had booked it well in advance. We had requested a quiet room with a view. Once we had arrived we were told we had been upgraded to the "loft suite" at first I was quite excited that they had upgraded us. Well I will tell you that this "loft suite" was nothing to be excited about, it looked more like a college dorm. Very outdated and dark, there was one small window which was partially covered by the TV. The balcony looked nothing like the other balcony's on the other side of the hotel this balcony was more like a small ledge. The room did have a kitchenette but it was quite an inconvenience to have the bed at the top of the stairs, the bedside light bulbs were burnt out. The place felt dark & dirty, stains all over the carpets. To say the least this was not what we had expected. We called the front desk and asked to be changed to a regular room because we did not feel comfortable staying in the loft, after a short while of waiting to hear back from the manager if that was alright, we were then switched to another room. I was happy it wasn't a loft suite but to my surprise it wasn't all that much better but we stuck it out for two nights, after the first night my fiance was ready to switch hotels but I told him we can deal with it & stick it out another night.
The walls were super thin you could hear everything from outside the hallway, upstairs, or the room beside us. There had been a bus full of tourists that had arrived and I'm pretty sure they had to leave around 5am the next morning. I could hear someone in the next room zippering up their suitcase that's how thin the walls were. Stains all over the carpets, hair on the bathroom walls, no AC, no screens on the windows, so if you have your window open be prepared for loud music coming from the bar below & critters crawling in. We found a beetle in the bed one morning, not to mention that they only give you a sheet & a blanket on the bed and we all know how often they clean those top comforters so if you choose to put that at the end of the bed you are stuck with one little sheet. I wouldn't say we are picky, we love the outdoors & have traveled to Sun Peaks various times and never have had any complaints before but this was a little outrageous, unsatisfactory sleeping conditions. By the second day our room was stiffing hot even with the window open it was a near 33 outside. That night we called down to the front desk asking if we could have a fan brought up to the room, we received an "uh" from the front desk clerk, my fiance waited on the line as the front desk clerk kept saying 'Uh... and then finally asking when we were going to bed, my fiance said now. He said uh again, by then my fiance had enough and just said don't worry about it we will be fine.
Will not be staying here again.

We stopped off here on our way from Whistler up to Jasper. On arrival we were greeted by two very well mannered reception staff who quickly checked us in. We were made to feel very welcome and they were able to recommend a few activities for us during our short one night stay.

The rooms were well kept and the beds comfortable. As with most of these suite hotels my room had a small kitchen attached with tea and coffee facilities as well as a cooker and fridge.

The view from my room was lovely ....right across part of the golf course and up to the top of the peaks. Before our evening meal we set off on one of the short walks that the reception staff had shown us along the edge of the forest and were greeted by a host of inquisitive ground squirrels and chipmunks!

Sun Peaks is a tiny little 'bespoke' resort which would seem to be mainly a winter time place. We preferred it to the more hectic and noisy town of Whistler which seemed to be a little but of a 'gnarly dude' hang out!

I can highly recommend the small restaurant 'Black Garlic' for top quality meals and wonderful service.

Would I recommend Coast Sundance Lodge........most certainly. Friendly, helpful staff, good quality high standard rooms ......what more could you ask for?

Room Tip: If you need to be asleep before 10pm then ask for a room in a quiet area. There is not much noise f...

The price was right, but you get what you pay for. We were given a room just above the hotel entrance and there were tour buses loading as early as 5:30 am. The room was spacious but dated and kitchenette and bathroom especially were not very clean--dead flies on kitchen floor, mould under bathroom vanity...nasty stuff. The Sunpeaks location is beautiful but the hotel was a disappointment. Front line staff said they could do nothing about the noise and we have yet to hear anything from the manager regarding the comment card we left regarding the room condition. Would not stay again.

We only stayed here one night as a stop over on our way from Jasper to Whistler as we didn't fancy any of the hotels in Clearwater. Although it meant a few miles more, it was worth it. There were very few people up in Sun Peaks as its mainly a winter resort, but there were quite a few restaurants open and we enjoyed our brief stay there.

Our room was comfortable, clean and very quiet, sleep quality was excellent and the room was quite cool, despite the high temperatures outside.

Stayed for August long weekend. The room isn't air conditioned and the temp (in the room) hovered around 85 degrees. At booking, I asked for a quiet room as we were taking our first trip with our baby. Our room was overtop of the hotel bar and looked out at another bar that played music outdoors until 10:00pm. As long as we kept the windows closed, our little one was able to sleep... but that meant the temp in the room was stifling hot. The bathroom had hair on the wall and floor. There was garbage in the hall on Saturday when we checked in and this hadn't been picked up when we left on Monday. The tap in the bathroom wouldn't shut off all the way and the toilet only seemed to flush 1/2 the time. There was a sign in the bathroom requesting towels be left behind as they were provided at teh pool. When we asked about a pool, we were told that there "wasn't officially a pool but that they didn't heat the hot tub in the summer... might still maintained". We passed. We've stayed in Coast hotels before in AB and BC and this didn't come close to meeting their usual standards. Not sure if the whole chain is slipping or if it's just this one hotel.

The pros? The bed was comfortable and it was super convenient to have a kitchen in the room. Wouldn't want to pay more than $50/ night for this place... but if you go in with low expectations, it's probably not so bad.

Room Tip: Do not travel here with children that have bedtimes earlier than bar closing hour.

I have stayed at the hotel many times. Love the location in the village. Beds are VERY comfortable. There are only 3 or 4 king size beds avail. so keep that in mind when booking.
I like the mountain view, side, but all the rooms have a nice view. I think its the best value in the village, as far as room rates go.
