“Fantastic family ski trip!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed February 20, 2012

Room 210
We just got home from one our best family vacations! Sun peaks was a great ski destination for us! We have a 4 yr old and a 7 yr old who have never skied before and it has also been a LONG time since my husband and I have been on skis too!
The hotel was in the perfect location for us! Our room looked out to the platter run so when our 4 yr old was done for the day we could catch glimpses of daddy and our oldest coming down the slopes! Having the kitchen in the room was great! Breakfast, lunch and dinner in our room was very handy! We stopped at costco in Kamloops and picked up some pre- made salads and meals! The kitchen was stocked with dishes, utensils, frying pan, pots, glasses....everything you need to whip up a little meal. Plus a fridge, microwave, stove top, sink with dish soap and dish towels. But don't forget to grab a pizza from "Mile High Pizza" one night! I would get a 1 bedroom suite next time instead to having 2 beds in the same room, just for a little more room and especially if you are like us and your kids go to bed early! Bring earplugsif you are a light sleeper! You can hear doors opening and closing, people walking in the hallways...and running! And if you have a room above the hot tub like we did you may get the drunk crowd chatting away about their great day of skiing! It didn't bother us as I travel with earplugs anyways! I like to be a well rested mom! LOL! Our kids slept great each night as a full day of fresh air wiped them out!

Downside of the hotel: The hotel could brush up on their building / cleaning maintenance a bit! the garbage cans in and around the building didn't seem to get emptied very often especially in the hot tub area where can and bottles were overflowing! Towels in the hot tub area were also not replenished frequently! The doors in the ladies washroom were missing, and the lock on the other stall was off, as well as the bathroom was very dirty, this was at 10am so it hadn't even been cleaned from the day before yet.

Be sure to bring a sled to pull any little ones on through the village as their little legs get tired, then you can stop at 1 of the many great coffee shops and enjoy the village life! You can always rent a sled from the ski shops if you need one! It would be handy to use to walk to the rec centre for a family swim or when going to the ice rink!

The platter night skiing was fun for the kids! As well as taking a break from skiing and going tubing! Children 6 and under are free for tubing!

Enjoy your vacation, only you can make the best of it! We sure did!

We had a group of 11 including 3 kids and various skiing ability. The accom is perfectly located. Walk out the back door strap on the skis and you are 50-100 meters from the lifts.

Skiing terrain to suit everyone, but without the crowds. Great restaurants in a quiet village.

A trip to Kamloops to see the Blazers play ice hockey was a highlight for us.

Loved Sun Peaks & Coast Sundance. We will be back.

Hello. We went skiing on the weekend to Sun Peaks and had a fabulous weekend. We arrived Thursday and skied Friday and Saturday and came home on Sunday. The Coast Sundance Lodge is right next to the Sundance chair and we could see people skiing from our room and the snow cats grooming the runs at night time. We had a wonderful time and there was no lift lines. The snow was great and we loved Mt. Morrisey and all it had to offer (the tree skiing and open meadows with fresh snow was awesome.

Room Tip: We stayed on the mountainside of the hotel and initially I was worried that it would be noisy as yo...

I read all 17 prior reviews after making my booking and can confirm we experienced all winter based reviewers comments. I stayed for two weeks this January 2012. All up this hotel is a good place to stay for access to the skiing at Sun Peaks. In fact it could not get better.

For:
1. Great location at Sun Peaks for access to skiing and of course the Village.
2. Pleasant staff.
3. Good size room.

Against:
1. Housekeeping calling to service the room for the day at 8.15am on more than one occasion!
2. The beds!! Not the size but the mattresses! How does a North American hotel chain provide such soft beds on a commercial basis. The beds were as soft as the pillows!!
3. The paper thin doors that allow you to hear any conversation or noise at any time of the night from the many inconsiderate guests (and their children) that frequented the hotel during our stay - who assumed that they can make as much noise as they like when they like - and did!

We would ski at SunPeaks again!

Room was decent size with high ceiling and we had a great view of the ski slopes! Stayed 1 night at the beginning of fall, so the slopes were still grassy but nice view nonetheless. Room door and walls very thin. Could hear noises from the landing all night as there was a work function on, employees had booked rooms for the night and they kept banging their doors when coming in and out of the rooms to the bar downstairs. Our room was next to the linen store room, so housekeeping staff early in the morning were banging against the wall next door. However, young receptionist was very helpful with nearby dinner venues to recommend - do try the schnitzel place - friendly host and generous serving size! We stopped here for a night's break on a drive from Whistler to Jasper but felt it was a bit of detour from the main route. If not skiing, staying the 1 night in Kamloops might have been a better option.

Room Tip: Request a room facing the slopes and not a room next to the housekeeping staff's store room.

I booked this accommodation based on recommendations on the web and was happy with size of room and location. Price was good, however, the hotel does not have air conditioning in the rooms!!!! Very hot rooms in the summer, especially rooms facing the parking area as they get sun all day long and the mountain air did not cool down - surprisingly. So if you are going to Sun Peaks for summer fun (biking, golfing, etc), this hotel very affordable and rooms have decent amenities, but make sure to get room facing mountain and hope for cool night air.

I stayed at the Coast Sundance in March with my two kids on a three night skiing holiday. Okay room, but nothing special. Great view to the ski hills. Decent hot tub. Adequate kitchenette. I booked the holiday through the Sunpeaks reservation office, which chardged my credit card for just the ski passes, but left the hotel charges for me to pay, On check-out however, I thought I had already paid and had to make a couple calls to be assured that I haven't. It was all square, but the receipts were not at all clear. I never did get my Aeroplan points.
Loved sunpeaks, but will stay elsewhere next year.
