“Absolutly Perfect”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 18, 2011

We were looking for a romantic, private getaway on the water at a reasonable price on short notice. At Takahashi we got that and so much more. We were greeted by Elaine the owner, who made us feel like old friends. All your stress melts as soon as you walk through the gates - the gorgeous landscaping and incredible views are all yours, blocked off from the outside world by beautiful bamboo fences. We stayed in the Umi suite, which was perfect. All the details that Elaine managed to include were perfect. The Kimonos which we wore constantly and wanted to take home, the private hot tub with tiki lights for nighttime use, the most comfortable bed I've ever slept in, rainwater shower head, custom handmade soaps, ipod dock, gas fireplace, exquisite sheets. There's more but those were the highlights for me.
We were sad to leave, and we will be returning for sure.

me and the girlfriend booked this kind of last minute and had the Umi Suite. The suite was great....over looking porpoise bay, private hot tub, full kitchen.

There were definitely a few great touches by Elaine (the owner/operator)....including the local handmade soaps, koerag coffee maker with tonnes of flavours, oj+champagne.....and she even gave us a gift certificate to go kayaking for the day!!

I would definitly reccomend people stay here.....it is very peaceful, right on the water....and for m, the private hot tub overlooking porpoise bay was key!!

Loved it!

My husband and I and another couple stayed here in July, 2011 and had a superb time. The suites are beautifully kept, the view from the suites and the deck is fabulous, the private hot tubs (one with each suite) are romantic and the host, Elaine, is fantastic (very friendly and welcoming but leaves you in peace to enjoy the tranquillity of the setting). We all thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will definitely be back again soon.

My GF and I booked our weekend at TG last minute (night before arriving) and are so happy that we found this place. The owner Elaine was extremely nice and accommodating. Based on our schedule, she was able to help us with an earlier check-in and later check-out time which made things much easier for us. Once you arrive, you can tell that she put in a lot of work in setting up her suites and cottage. Every attention to detail was looked into - from the champagne and OJ to the water quality in the hot tub to the kimonos and slippers to the handmade soap she provides (the list goes on..).

For our stay, we were in the Nikko Cottage which is located behind the house making it a very private setting. It had a private hot tub, deck and was detached from the main building. The cottage is very new and super clean. Everything looks like it is still brand new or barely used. The cottage has a kitchen supplied with all the things you need to cook a full meal incase you feel staying in. The bathroom has a standing shower with rain drop shower head and is stocked with thick soft towels. The bed is a queen size and has nice soft sheets - pillows were a bit on the soft side but nothing to complain about. There is also an LCD TV equipped with movie channels so don't be fooled by the DVD machine in thinking you need to go rent a movie. The cottage also has AC/heat, a ceiling fan and an electric fireplace to make sure you are comfortable.

The property is in a very convenient location. It is right on the waterfront of Porpoise Bay so you can walk through her garden and onto the bay. It is also only a few minutes away from downtown Sechelt and a short drive from Davis Bay.

We can't say enough great things about this place and Elaine. She is such a great person to talk to and very helpful. She helped us find places to eat and things to do and even gave us a parting gift when we mentioned about one of her TG fridge magnets. The property is beautiful and we would definitely return and highly recommend this place to others.

A few random notes:
- 3 parking spaces, if there are 3 cars, be careful as there might not be much room to maneuver when getting back out.
- The sunlight problem mentioned by previous reviewer has been fixed and another blind was installed on the skylight to reduce the amount of sunlight shining down directly. Still a very bright room which is nice.
- Missed the entrance on our first attempt because the property sign at the entrance is black and hard to see.
- Do not lock the lock on the door knob on the front door when leaving - the two keys she provides are for the deadbolt on the front door and deadbolt on the deck door. We thought both keys were for both of the locks on the front door.

Room Tip: If you want the best view, go with the suites. If you want privacy, go with the cottage.

It's my pleasure to be the first to review Takahashi Gardens.
We were only there one night, but we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. This is a new facility. There is an-owner occupied house on site with 2 lower-level guest suites (one of which is up and running). The 2 suites have a great view of Sechelt Inlet. The cottage we stayed in is independent of the house. It was an artist's workshop, and has been converted to a compact studio-cottage, complete with a small but fully functional kitchen (including dishwasher) and a 3-piece bath. The decor is contemporary with an Asian flair. There is a 32" flat-screen TV with cable. The linens are all of good quality.
French doors lead to a private deck with comfy chairs to relax on and enjoy a view of the Inlet. There is also a private hot-tub with the same view - and it is sheltered by an acrylic roof if the weather is not co-operating. Japanese kimonos are provided. The existing landscaping is very pretty and there may be more design elements coming.
The owner, Elaine is very hospitable and accommodating. She worked hard to provide us with an earlier check-in time which was much appreciated. We were given a small bottle of champagne with orange juice, and some handmade soaps to enjoy.
One thing to be aware of is the presence of a large skylight in the cottage. It's wonderful to let the light in during the day, but when it gets light very early in the morning, you may want to have an eye shade on if you want to sleep in a bit later.
We would happily return here for another stay!
