“Already Planning Our Return”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 27, 2013

My wife and I travel to Vancouver often for work and decided to stretch our stay with a few days on the Sunshine Coast on a whim given the sunny forecast. The Sunshine coast is well worth a visit and more time, but what made our few days so memorable was staying at the Tuwanek Hotel. This is a special place. We stayed in the Casablanca Suite which we would recommend (insert bad Bogart pun here). However we were the only ones staying there so Sharon our host showed us the other two rooms in the "Hotel" and we would have enjoyed either of them as well. The Hotel is really a grand house and the attention to detail and care is more than evident. The grounds are inviting and beautiful and the ability to get on the water with their paddle boat or paddle boards is a huge plus. Sharon was an absolute delight and her breakfasts were scrumptious and served in our suite. We ate while watching eagles, hummingbirds, and other wildlife from the balcony. When we left to explore the Sunshine Coast, we could not wait to get back to this little slice of heaven. We set "deep anchors" on their beach and watched the sunset. What more can you want? We are already planning on returning with friends and will not even think about staying anywhere else. I did have one complaint for Sharon: When we took out the two paddle boards, I kept falling in the water while my wife never did. Clearly, my paddle board was defective. Sharon said "she would look into it".

I just had to write a review of our wonderful weekend getaway. The location and hotel are absolutely stunning. The breakfast is amazing!!! The view is gorgeous. We kayaked and snorkelled. The hotel is situated in a private bay and the water was quite warm. The hosts are friendly and very informative. It's our new favourite place and we will return. Checked out Hidden Groves Park as well. Beautiful spot!

It is a lovely property about 10 km north of Sechelt with its own little bay. Don't forget to bring your aqua shoes. The bathroom is huge (the shower is great for two) and the bed sheets are definitely the softest I've experienced and the breakfasts were lovely. The downside is the lack of privacy from the neighbouring suite upstairs ... you share a balcony with a flimsy divider so it's not very conducive to romance when you have to whisper all the time ... perhaps a more formative divider could be placed between the suites because at that price the lack of privacy was a surprise ...

Room Tip: Not sure what to do about the balcony - in the fall and spring it would not be an issue.

My boyfriend and I just returned today from a blissful 2 days at the Tawanek Hotel for our anniversary. Sharon made our stay amazing and the African Queen Sweet was like staying at a day spa. The level of service was outstanding, and their attention to detail does not go unnoticed.
In the morning we were served the most amazing breakfast over looking the water on our own private deck, what could be better then that?? We will def be returning next year, I am already raving about this hotel to all of my friends and family.

Thank you again for an amazing vacation! Your hotel is a little slice of heaven.

Right from the moment we arrived, Chris made us feel welcome; showing us around the wonderful property, activities to do and places to relax. We loved the paddleboarding, hot tub under the stars and the numerous places to sit with our books and wine. We couldn't leave a review without mentioning Krista's amazing breakfasts, yummy!
This most definitely is a small piece of paradise.

We stayed at the tree house cottage for two nights and had a wonderful time. As long as you're aware that the location is not walking distance to restaurants and prepare ahead of time to cook in the cottages (very well stocked) or are willing to drive 10 minutes for meals the location is not a problem. Management were very quick to respond to my many emails when booking as I was using a living social vouchers, I think without the voucher (i.e. paying the normal rate) I would definitely have wanted to stay in the main house with the balconies and water views and breakfast but given the lower price we paid I am satisfied with the value for money. Would come back.

A WOW place! We stayed in Wild Berry Cottage for our honeymoon. The drive there is GORGEOUS and peaceful - a fun way to see the views of the Sunshine Coast. The ferry ride is beautiful as well. Wild Berry Cottage is a short walk from the stunning views of the water. We walked there in the evening to take pictures and enjoy the sunset. The cottage is definitely in the category of "luxury." The owners had so many cute details - a private hot tub with a lovely walkway to it (including a private bridge going over a little creek), bathrobes, a kitchen with all of the cooking utensils we needed, a blanket for cuddling on the comfy couch, etc. We didn't use them, but there were a couple nice flat screen televisions along with a large collection of DVDs to choose from. There are a couple towns nearby that are fun to explore. Gibsons was our favorite town. We loved the pier. Mike's Ice Cream shop was stupendous (gelato!). Our favorite restaurant was Gumboot in Robert's Creek. We also loved Sita's in Gibsons. There are many hikes in the area and kayaking would be beautiful. A peaceful, relaxing place. The owners were welcoming and friendly. They gave us many helpful recommendations on places to go and things to do.
