“Family friendly”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 17, 2013

I just spent 3 nights with my 2 young granddaughters at Cluxewe. I was impressed by the variety of accommodation options available, from cabins to fully serviced campsites and unserviced sites. It was wonderful to allow the children to wander freely without worrying about their safety. Great fish and chips in the restaurant which appears to be the place to eat on the North Island. Friendly, helpful staff made our stay memorable.

We booked a RV site along the beach. It seems that a spot that previously had 1 site now has 3!
We were unable to back a 23 foot 5th wheel and ended up in an uneven gravel/dirt parking lot that they called a campsite! The whole area has been cleared of trees and the campground was littered with trash and dog feces. We will never camp there again!

A few km away from port mc neill at a camping place ( don't be mislead by the name resort) .
At first sight the camping place looks a bit basic and not well organised.
The best places to camp are in the back and looks very nice.
We booked one of the few chalets.
Our check inn was a bit strange with unexperienced reception boy( trainee? ) but after a while he managed to find our booking and provide a key .
Cabin /cottage is nice , clean with everything you need to cook available (incl barbecue) and with superb view!
Relaxing , quiet place with lovely sunsets while making a campfire at the beach.
We liked tha place .

Room Tip: chalet 12 has the most open view

Although the entrance to the resort is not appealing, the çhalet facing the sera are very nice. A terrasse where to take breakfast or rest after a hike is just fantastic and very calm. Well equiped chalets, Nice barbecues. Possibility to have a fire on the beach. Note that in the evenig, humidité comes from the sea, and t CAN be rater set and cold, even after a sunshine day

Room Tip: Ask for a chalet that views the sea
