Our ski trips are often late bookings - a consequence of work pressures - and organization can be a nightmare. We cannot praise the Pano Reservations Team highly enough for their organization assistance. From organizing our transfers from/to Calgary Airport, sorting out our ski package, and going the extra mile to find us the perfect accommodation, the Reservations Team were amazing.
We stayed at the Pine Inn, a two minute walk to the lifts. This was the least expensive accommodation on the hill but we did not feel like we were missing out in terms of comfort or service.
There are no bad ski resorts when there is plenty of snow. What marks out a great resort is how they manage those periods when the conditions are not as good. The Pano Grooming Team produced great skiing on those runs which had held their snow cover and good skiing on slopes that needed careful management. They were not afraid to signpost runs where conditions were marginal. We skied some marginal runs - but knew when we set out that some caution was required.
We would rate Panorama above some larger resorts (Revelstoke, Sunshine Village) for the quality and variety of the skiing, and on a par with Lake Louise for customer service and friendliness.
There was a good choice of restaurants for evening meals and the Main Hall was a convenient and reasonably priced choice for lunch.
We will be returning to Pano, and aim to persuade our friends to give the resort a try. We don't think they will be disappointed.
