The River's Edge restaurant at Sandpiper Golf Course is a secret that only a few know about. An hour and a half from Vancouver, it lies on the banks of the Harrison River and has a drop-dead gorgeous view.
I've eaten lunch after golf here in late spring and two dinners in December. All were excellent using fresh, organic ingredients from local producers. Their signature dish, for me anyway, are the puffiest Yorkshire puds I've ever seen, filled with tender beef and gravy. The wine list is focused on the Pacific Northwest with a few bottles from California.
River's Edge is a warm, welcoming place to eat with a big fireplace in a sunken area, a well-stocked bar, and friendly service. In summer, the terrace is the place to be drinking in the view of the river, the fairways, and the Coast Mountains beyond.
The resto is open seven days a week for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Whenever you eat here, you'll not be disappointed.
