“Clean and Comfortable”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 22, 2014

I found the hotel to be very clean all rooms have an ocean view. Very relaxing watching the wildlife and the boats come and go. I was in for a real treat 2 killer whales came into the inlet and put on a wonderful show I heard it was the second time this year whales have been spotted here.
I had never seen one in the wild before. It was spectacular.
I will not hesitate to stay at Bathgates next time I am in Egmont

Room Tip: I would suggest get a room with a kitchen (which are fully equipped with dishes and cooking supplies...

So pleasantly surprised at the quality of this facility. Our family loved the superb location of the resort and our room with an incredibly beautiful ocean view from where we sat and watched eagles and herons fish, and marine vessels coming in or going out the harbour. From our well-appointed, clean, and lovely furnished room, we were so comfortable we had that 'home feeling' rather than just another motel. Cooking facilities in the room and a well-stocked general store made preparing some of our meals easy and convenient. The owners and staff are friendly and helpful, making our stay here a wonderful experience overall. Lucky for us, we stayed 4 days and and were able to hike some of the nearby trails and visit local attractions. So enjoyable!

Room Tip: For a large party, or if you require a handicap designated room, book the ground floor suite. It...

If you like small and friendly, then go to Egmont, BC. Stay at the Bathgate General Store! Yes it has only 5 rooms but each has a balcony overlooking the harbour. The folks are friendly, the rooms are clean, there's wi-fi and you're within walking distance of the skookumchuck! It's an adventure we much enjoyed. Eat at the Wilderness.

Room Tip: All rooms are much the same. By the way the place is for sale.

What could be more relaxing, fresh air, ocean view and the only sounds are birds and waves. My Husband and I recently vacationed on the Sunshine Coast, where we were fortunate to have spent a night at Bathgate's Motel in Egmont BC. Our room was perrfeccct, our balcony over looked the ocean and forested coastline, a view we will never forget. The cranes were fishing in the low tide and starfish covered all the rocks. Our room had WiFi and satellite TV, we were both suprised as our cell phones did not provide service in many places on the Peninsula. We were given information at the General Store when the good tides were at the Skookumchuck Narrows, and took a boat tour through the chuck at high tide, it was so0o0o0o awesome !! The kayakers were in their glory riding the huge surf , a real must see by boat or hiking in. Remember to pick yourself up a few snacks for late night and early morning, the store has everything you will need and want !!! If you have any questions on the area the owners are very helpful and knowledgeable, they will hook you up with all your needed information, or let you know where you can get the information from, if they do not know :) Everywhere you walk, the people of Egmont seem to always wave, say Hello and smile, we love it there, and will return !!! Everything is what you make it, and this area is very unique in many ways. If you are looking for the City life, this is not the place for you, if you like your own company, wilderness and the simple life, you must give it a try. An amazing part of our Province.

Room Tip: All Rooms over look the Ocean :)

Nice rooms, nice views, but absolutely rude and terrible service.

We were provided the wireless internet password while at the same time told that if it doesn't work, not to bother them. It didn't work, and when I asked for some help, was told that they couldn't help me. The information binder located in the room made it clear that if the internet didn't work it was our fault! I've travelled around the world and have never had an issue connecting to wireless before, so they clearly do not provide the right code.

When we asked for a roll of paper towels to pick up a mess our kid had left in the kitchenette, we were told that they don't do that! Have toiler paper instead!

We were overcharged on moorage (3x the price of the government dock next door) for our boat, and when we complained about it, were told it was our fault because we booked the marina spot for the night.

Don't go until the place is sold to new owners that actually care about clients, even just a bit would be a huge improvement.

We arrived at the store to buy fishing licenses. The man was so rude that we wanted to walk out. He didn't want to give us any details about how much the licenses cost only that they had to be paid in cash and it really was a bother. When I asked the woman there if we could pay to print out our 2 online licenses she suggested I drive to Madiera Park - 35 minutes away as it was too much of a hassle for her even though we were purchasing 4 other licenses. As a group of six, who have traveled alot, we have never met such rude people in all of our travels. They were just as rude to the the other couple who entered the store spent over $40 and just wanted some quarters for the phone. Suggest that they take a course in manners and customer service or close up shop.

These owners just don't seem to be enjoying life, so they take it out on travelers such as myself and my six friends that arrived by bicycle in the pouring rain. All we wanted was some warm food and to get dry. We were told various things were not available such as no internet, and no tv. They did this with no regard to the room rate. We spent over $500 to stay the night, at least they could have been apologetic. Too bad, a truly lovely spot spoiled by these unhappy folks.
