We've been going to A Lakeside Retreat for a few years now, and can only describe it as a hidden paradise. Just the fact that the lake it's situated near has no motorboats, and therefore, no noise, is a delight in itself. No cell reception, no pollution, no hustle and bustle...
What it does offer is comfort, consistent cleanliness, a warm, and thoughtful host, beautiful, yet quaint rooms, fresh air, hiking, great restaurants nearby, and peace and tranquility.
Rob is a great, and generous host. He makes sure you are comfortable after you arrive, and then leaves you alone to relax and unwind.
We love the room we stay in, which is the Mclary Suite, named after the antique stove in the room. Clean towels, clean linens, and a very useful kitchenette.
If you need to go to town for supplies, Egmont is a 5 minute drive away, and has a corner store. The only thing I can say as a negative about the place is, i wish it had a sauna as well as a hot tub, because I prefer saunas - just my personal taste.
