“Interesting art show by a talented artist”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 20, 2013

We visited the Dawson Art Gallery in July 2013, and were fortunate to see a show by Nicole Bauberger, a talented artist who painted every 50 miles of the route from locations in Ontario, Canada to Alaska. Every painting is 12"x12" and documents the highway at the specific point where she stops to paint. I really enjoyed seeing her work (although it was interesting that she seldom painted any vehicles on the road). The art gallery is well worth a visit - nice local pieces and reasonable prices. The gallery, by the way, is located in an old grainery.

“What a cool use of a grain elevator!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 5, 2012

A lovely art gallery, but even more interesting because of the history of the building. Who'd of thought you could renovate a grain elevator into some this beautiful. They also have a lovely gift shop with great jewelry. By donation - give generously!

“Dawson Creek Art & Museums”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed July 26, 2012

The Art Gallary is in an old grain elevator by the old train depot and railroad tracks. It's a fun eclectic collection of local artists and contests. There are some unique items for sale also. I enjoyed the small museum in the old train depot itself. History of the area and the building of the Al-Can Highway. I really enjoyed the film and found out many interesting things behind the construction. It was an incredible feat by the U.S. Army Corp of Engineers. These buildings are right by Mile Marker 0 of the highway. There is a new monument to Mile Marker 0. The original marker is about two blocks away and a small information center is on the corner there with another film with actual interviews with some of the military workers done several years after construction. Both places are a must to get the history of the Al-Can Highway.

The entire downtown area looks like an art galary. Some beautiful buildings and hisotric murals painted on many of the buildings. A fun place to walk around and stop for some refreshment. Dawson Creek is worth spending a day in before actually driving up the highway. We are planning that trip in a few years.
