In 2012 I wrote a review about the refuge and it's financial woes, the condition of the birds, buildings etc. Since then, they have leased out the land in front of the refuge to what I think is a blueberry farm and the extra funds have been applied to looking after the birds. The neat rows of berry bushes look very nice and have changed to whole curb appeal of this facility. However, having said that, the birds have always been looked after but at least now they seem to have some extra funds. The loneliness and "desperation" of the birds however, has not changed in my opinion. They are still reaching out and trying to make contact with the visitors and perhaps I'm anthropomorphizing but to me they looks sad. The people working there are fantastically dedicated and I think that the more people visit the more money the facility can have to spend towards these birds.
