Often in September, we travel to Three Hills, Alberta, and stay at Super 8. It is a gorgeous time of the year. The yellow leaves are dressed in their finest garb of the year. Albertans are busy gathering in the abundant harvest that God has provided, and there is an air of thanksgiving for an early harvest this year.
But what was the difference this year? The staff is always cordial and helpful appeared in their new uniforms that brought a professional ambiance to the place - we noticed the place had been refurbished with fresh paint, new carpets, new pictures, bringing a classy, homey atmosphere to the place. The three-story water slide was bouncing with activity and shrieks of laughter. Melinda greets us each morning at the continental breakfast area. The food is good and cooked just right, and we washed it down with Colombian or French-style coffee; your pick. The weather report for the day was posted for all to see. Later, the business manager was able to solve a problem for me by knowing just who could help in the community. In the early evening, wonderful hot soup was served to guests.
Why am I bragging about Three Hills Super 8? Last July, the original owners of the franchise rebought and restored it to its original finesse. I forgot to tell you how friendly and welcoming Don and Louise are. They have traveled all over and know what we want and how we want it. There were places to see - the Guzoo, the Trochu Arboretum and its little oasis, the Sweet Grass Cafe, where we enjoyed an excellent lunch and took in their gift shop. Saturday night, we enjoyed the Nilgiris Tea House, open only on weekends on 910 Main St. We took in the Atlas Coal museum in Acme, Alberta at 110 Century Dr East Coulee, AB. It was very educational. We enjoyed riding in an old coal train. Do we recommend a stay in Three Hills? A resounding yes. We thought we had everything in Texas, but were proven wrong. Arlene Rodney, Spring, Texas
