We stayed in the Best Western Hotel and Conference Centre in Sherwood Park in Sept./05. We tryed to book the Holiday Inn Express or the Ramada but they were both fully booked (I can understand why after our experience at the Best Western). We booked online and requested a crib as we were travelling with a small toddler. When we checked in we were bluntly told we do not do cribs. We knew that both other hotels were booked and as we were there to attend a funeral we had no choice as to where we could stay. We had to phone some of our relative that were in trying to organize the funeral to see if we could borrow a playpen from someone. They found one for us and dropped it at the front desk for us but the desk was very rude to him. We also were told that the elevator would not stop at the third floor (the one they put us on) and that we would have to go to the fourth floor and then return back to the third floor. The room was OK but the ice machine on our floor was out of order. We wanted to open a bottle of wine but no corkscrew was supplied. We went to the bar to borrow one but the bartended told us she only had one so could not lend it to us. She did come up to our room and open it for us though. The gift shop in this hotel is only open from five until ten in the evening so you cannot purchase anything all day and there is no stores nearby. This hotel also has no fitness facilities or pool. They tell you to us the public facility next door but you must pay the going rate that everyone else pays. Breakfast is not included in the hotel rate as it is in the Holiday Inn Express just one block away.We ate breakfast in their restaurant but it was so dark because lights were burnt out. All in all I would avoid this hotel as service and facilities are very very poor.
