“Pick Walking Eagle”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 2, 2012

I researched the hotels in the area and originally chose Walking Eagle for the rate which included a full hot breakfast for two in the dining room. I was thrilled to find many other benefits of staying here . Our room in the lodge was quiet, spotlessly clean, spacious with good beds , had convenient parking , close to the hotel's excellent restaurant where we enjoyed both dinner and breakfast. The staff from front desk, cleaners , to restaurant hosts and servers were tops . Our dog was welcome at the best rate I've seen too. There are grassy areas around to walk the pets . This is the best deal I've found in a long time !!

Room Tip: With a dog, rooms in the lodge have parking outside the door and are very quiet.

The rooms are fair in size, lots of sink space and a quiet location! Our bathroom door wouldn't shut and we had a dead bat hanging outside our room but it was clean and well stocked and reasonable in price! Good location and nice restaurant for breakfast, ample parking.

I'd definitely stay again at the Walking Eagle. The hotel was easy to find and close to services; such as restaurants and fuel. Our double room was clean and well equipped, and a hearty breakfast at their in-house restaurant was included with our rate.

We tried to stay in Sylvan Lake - under slight duress as its a touristy type of place to find there was no room at the inn -phew!. Called ahead after finding this in yellow pages. Good rate - Very accommodating and when we arrived they'd moved us to a larger room with 2 queen beds and sofa/sitting area - a Godsend as it turned out.Stayed two nights as DH developed a nasty sick bug so he rested up on the sofa whilst we all went geocaching. Visited a lovely little museum in the village of Caroline, much loved and cared for by the locals - worth the visit. Food here was great too, busy with locals = deserving of #1 restaurant in Rocky. Lovely extra touches found in inns that are not part of a chain, including water bottles given by the staff - they gave us extra too when they heard of DHs illness. Recommended - so give it a try.

i have stayed here at least three times in the last 20 years and I am glad that the Walking Eagle has been upgraded. I also like that this is not a chain hotel, so hurray for the little guys indeed.
The quality of the restaurant was OK, I understand where we are but for the options for vegetarians was minimal.

The first thing I found out about this hotel is that dogs are allowed if you pay an extra 10 dollars a night charge. Other than that, the Walking Eagle Inn is definitely good value for the money. The only real quibble I had was that the whirlpool jets in the hot tub were broken. Also, my mom loved the steam sauna. If we were in the area we would stay here again.
