“Grand old home and wonderful hosts”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 9, 2013

We so much enjoyed our stay in his grand old home. Despite the devastating flood of a few years ago, the house and hosts warmly welcomed us and made our stay memorable. Much love and enormous effort has gone into keeping this gem as a warm and welcoming resting place!

We stayed in the Dakota Rose both before and after our trip because of its proximity to the railroad station (about a 20 minute walk). The walk passes many homes still recovering from the 2011 flood. This historic house has recovered and offers the most comfy beds and the best breakfast in town. The hosts are friendly and helpful with trip planning.

Our family (2 grandparents, 2 adults, 2 kids) had a great stay here in 3 rooms. The house is nicely decorated in Victorian fashion (but not complete over-the-top Victorian style!) The proprietors are friendly and informative about the house's history, the area etc., but not overbearing. When we visited, the exterior of the home was being repainted due to recent floods in the area, but the interior was very nicely maintained.

Our daughter & husband stayed here last fall & recommended Dakota Rose to us. We are from California & came to see our Granddaughter at Minot State & bring her home for the summer. Jim & Carol were very accommodating & made sure we had everything we needed & our special requests were met. The Garden Room was beautiful & the king bed was very suitable for a good night's rest. We stayed 3 nights & were served a nice breakfast each morning including fresh berry smoothies. Each night when we returned there was always a surprise homemade sweet. It was so much nicer than staying in a hotel & about the same price. Our hosts were very welcoming and answered many questions about the history of this 1906 vintage home and also of the flood two years ago. We will definitely stay there again when we come back to Minot. Bob & Mary

Room Tip: The Garden Room was perfect for a couple who likes a nice comfortable king bed with coffee maker &am...

We can't say enough about the Dakotah Rose B/B!! We were so comfortable and treated well; great breakfast and comfy bed. We will definitely be looking up this B/B the next time we need to overnight in Minot. It is within walking distance also to a great pizza restaurant as well. Thanks to Jim and Carol for a wonderful stay!! Prices were awesome as well.

This was our second time staying with the Dakota Rose and everything was top shelf! Jim and Carol are very friendly and it is like staying with family. Rooms were very spacious, clean and beautiful in a Victorian setting. The breakfeast were out of this world! The speciality candies are to die for!

Room Tip: Every room is fine!

Jim and Carol warmly welcomed our group, and graciously extended our stay as a blizzard prevented our traveling home. Their kindness, laughter, and shared joy was much appreciated, and the breakfasts were a wonderfully delicious start to our day! Of course, the treats were scrumptious as well. The big, comfortable bed provided restful sleep for the 5 night stay. The historic home always thrills me and is so beautifully restored after the 2010 flood. Hats off to Carol and Jim for providing a lovely home away from home. I hIghly recommend that you spend time enjoying the comforts of home in this lovely B & B.
