“It's a truck stop but, it's also a wonderful down home cafe - simply great!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 30, 2011 via mobile

Huge blueberry pancake for less than three bucks - wonderful fresh blueberries in it - great biscuits and gravy - awesome big breakfasts - value can't be much better than this! Their blueberry muffin French toast is "to die for!!". Go here if you are hungry!

“This is as local as you can get”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 18, 2011 via mobile

With homemade foods like meatloaf, mashed potatoes, fried ham and cheese appetizers; it's a good thing this is open 24 hours! Day or night whatever you crave they seem to always have the right fix. I love coming here for an early breakfast or a late night, after the bar, treat.

“Packed for a reason”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 16, 2010

Dropped in here tonight as Charlie's closes early on Sundays. We weren't disappointed. The place was busy for a reason.

Special tonight was roast pork and dressing. Pork was very flavorful, and served with dressing, mashed potatoes, gravy, and very tasty and sweet carrots. Dinner also came with a huge roll and good bread pudding for dessert. Kiddo had chile that was a bit sweeter than we get in Texas, but still very good and full of meat. She finished with a remarkably good (and large) order of strawberry shortcake, They use actual shortcake instead of sponge cake. Tab was $15.

Other dishes I saw being served (burgers, hot roast beef sandwiches) looked tempting.

Place is clean and well-lit, and service was pretty efficient considering how busy they were.

I'll be stopping in again tomorrow to see what the specials for the week are.

“Schatz Econostop Cafe serves American food 24 hours per day”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 21, 2008

Schatz Econostop Cafe is on US-2. It shares a building with a 24 hour truckstop. A smoking section and a non-smoking section are physically separated by a glass barrier. A variety of American breakfasts, lunches, and dinners are offered. An extensive menu offers hamburgers, fries, eggs, pancakes, fried potatoes, hash browns, hot sandwiches, cold sandwiches, short orders, and desserts. My wife enjoyed a cheeseburger. I had a steak, fried potatoes, and salad. My wife had a sundae. Another customer recommended a slice of pie, but I tried the strawberry shortcake. It was huge with ice cream and lots of strawberries.
