“Excellent”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 1, 2013

We spent a week at Hotel Calgary as part of a group Skiing trip. Didn't really expect it to be as nice as Whistler, but it was a Whistler on a smaller scale and very enjoyable. No tipping hints during the entire stay, which was very good. Excellent service during meals, room service also very good.

They charge ridiculous prices for a room per night just because they can. Not worth the money when you compare to first class leading hotels who cater for their guests out with the 'normal hours' I will spend my hard earned cash in Canada next time where I am sure amenities, location and service are next to nothing compared with a hotel who shuts down their kitchen to guests. Your not a 5* resort so why charge that kind of price for 3* Time to stop trading off your loyal guests of 20 years and get into the real world of hotel management.

Room Tip: If your looking for space for the price you pay forget it. The hotel looks nice from the outside but...

This hotel has everything you need for a great skiing holiday. It is a short walk to a variety of ski slopes for all abilities. The bedrooms are warm and cosy and the lounge is an ideal place to meet friends and enjoy a per dinner drink. A five course meal is served complete with the hotel manager's large platter of at least twenty different local cheeses. Staff are friendly and helpful. The hotel is situated in the middle of the village and has a good range of shops serving local delicacies.

Room Tip: Rooms at the front have excellent views of the valley and the slopes.

We have stayed here a number of times and find the location of the hotel excellent for ski in ski out and also being at the top of the town it is a very position to just walk down in the evening. The food is good and the staff are all very friendly. the most notable feature of the meal is the excellent cheese selection, it had to be seen top be truly appreciated.
All rooms are well appointed but try for one on the front, the extra cost is worth it for the views of mountains and whole area.

Room Tip: Try for one on the front of the hotel

I stayed here with a group on a walking holiday. The hotel is very pleasant, my room was great - it had everything you would need - good hairdryer and mirror in bathroom, TV and radio and mini bar, and lots of storage. The balcony was very pleasant, looking over the mountains. Everything was clean and fresh. The highlight for me was the food. Breakfasts were very good, but the dinners were something special. Five courses and the most amazing cheese board (probably the best I have ever seen!). The staff were all very pleasant and helpful. The spa looked nice, I only tried the sauna and steam room. Some good walks locally and Annecy/Chamonix are one and a half to two hours away.

Hotel Calgary is perfectly located for easy access into the Espace Diament ski area and Les Saisies village (there's a small set of stairs to the Les Périots poma) . They provide all the services anticipated for a great week's skiing. The hotel staff are warm & welcoming. The room was nicely appointed, very clean & comfortable with many little extras I hadn't expected in a French 3* hotel e.g in room tea & coffee making facilities, robes.

The après ski facilities are good and include heated indoor swimming pool, sauna, steam room & spa.

We wanted to try the local restaurants and with the village so close, mostly ate outside the hotel. On the nights we ate in, the food was good & the service excellent. Great breakfast selection. Pleasant bar. Lovely views abound. Car parking is available. Stayed 7 nights and had a great ski holiday. An unreserved thumbs up from me. I wouldn't hesitate to rebook or recommend this hotel.
