“5 star beach-side quality with spa centre”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 26, 2012

The hotel is located on the northern side of Sunny Beach. It has a private beach area located in front of the hotel.

The swimming pool is large but cold and well equipped with deck chairs. There are daily activities such as acqua gym.

The buffet-dinner was excellent.

Staff could be friendlier at reception. Spa centre was excellent.

5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 14, 2012

We stayed 10 nights in August 2012. This was expensive and because we wanted a quiet hotel near the beach, we decided to pay the higher price. The rooms were a good size and for the small upgrade fee, getting a seaview was worth it. We only stayed on a B & B basis but did have dinner there one night. The food was good but with the number of restaurants in Sunny Beach, we preferred to go out for dinner each night.
Everywhere was clean and even though we were there in August, we could always get a lounger by the pool. The free loungers on the beach were all taken quite early in the morning but could always get one by lunchtime and as it was sunny till 6.30 it is not worth paying at the beach next door.
It is quite a walk to the centre but you don't need to go that far to find decent restaurants and we preferred the quieter end.
Although we did not go in the rooms at the Helena Park, it looked like the hotel was the same and was quite a bit cheaper. You can walk through the Helena Sands to reach the beach and the road out by the Helena Park is only access to the hotels so is very quite. If I had realised this, I would have probably saved myself quite a bit of money and stayed there.
Sunny Beach was what we expected as I had researched it on tripadvisor. We did get irritated by people flying along on those 2 wheeled electric scooter as it looked like a serious accident was just waiting to happen. The road and pavements were always full with adults and children and these scooters seemed very dangerours and would put me off returning there. Hopefully they wll ban these or restrict them to areas that are less dangerous. The weather was beautiful and the sea was warm. If you want a luxury hotel in Sunny Beach and you are not on a tight budget, then book here.

Room Tip: Worth upgrading to seaview but not necessary as not near a busy road

Hotel room was big and spacious, lovely view of the beach from the balcony. Staff were very attentive, breakfast was awesome something for every nationality. Very enjoyable stay, its at the far end of the beach front so It's quite a walk to the main area. Sunny Beach itself is tacky and aimed more at the 18-30 group, and not a family holiday. Bulgaria is good value and Its hard to spend your money.

Spent a week at this hotel and really enjoyed our stay. Food, accomodation and service, all excellent. To top it all, not that expensive.

Booked through Thompsons as a package, I couldn't fault it.

For anyone looking to stay in the Sunny Beach area in Bulgaria, avoid the centre and try and find a hotel near Helena Sands. The centre is a poormans version of Blackpool and is ok to visit but not to stay in.

This hotel is a self-styled 5*, but it is really a low 4* or high 3*. The buildings and surroundings are fine, lots of marble, leather etc., and a really nice pool. The hotel itself is very clean and our room (1421) was spacious with a view over the pool and the beach beyond. However, they make a great deal of fuss about bringing food/drink into the hotel "because we cannot guarantee the quality". This is rubbish, nobody who has bought food in a supermarket expects the hotel to guarantee its quality - it is simply an excuse to force you to buy food and drink in the hotel. They also have that nonsense notice about using your towels again "to help save water/the environment" when what they really mean is "save our laundry costs". There is a safe in the room which cost us 50 lev for the fortnight to use. On the plus side the free wifi internet in the lobby area worked well, only dropped out occasionally and was instantly reset on request. The staff in the bar were great, and on reception too, no complaints there. When we were there the hotel was not by any means full, but there was one day in particular when it was impossible to find any empty sunbeds around the pool so it must be a real fight in season. The pool boys don't seem to do anything except stand around the towel hut and chat. You have to get your own mattresses from the pile and they put a note on the shutters of the towel hut asking you to bring them back when you have finished with them. They don't bother putting up the umbrellas, you have to do that for yourself also. Not really 5* service is it? There is some very noisy "entertainment" for children at about 7.30pm and again for the adults starting at about 9.30pm but it doesn't last long (thank goodness) and didn't interfere with sleep at all.
For the money we paid we thought it was good value, right at the quiet end of Sunny Beach which is what we wanted. To catch the local bus you have to walk through the sister hotel to the road, not a problem at all. Buses are cheap and will take you to the centre of Sunny Beach or beyond to Nessabar for under £1. Other have said how "tacky" Sunny Beach is and I would agree with that. The Helena Sands in at the best end, but the centre is definitely for young people wanting to get drunk and karaoke. Unfortunately there are not many good restaurants - for that you need to go to Nessabar.
