Stayed here in august with my girlfriend and a few friends, looks amazing from the outside, and even better on the inside. It was a bit of a trek to the town centre, and seems much longer when the sun's in full force, but its well away from the 18-30 crowd so nice and quiet. The food wasn't to my taste so ate out most nights which was cheap enough anyway, wouldn't recommend the a la carte,it truely was awful. The entertainment was a fat bloke with karaoke every thursday, and the all inclusive bar just isn't adequate for the amount of guests. We found the staff to be ok,maybe some were a bit miserable but when you think of the hours they put in it's understandable, someone commented that nurses work long hours and still keep a smile on their faces, maybe... but they also get a nice pay packet, the rooms were very nice and cleaned everyday, pool gets very busy, probably better to buy a lilo. There's also a brucie bonus for the fellas, the t.v has a cracking channel called private spice lol. Read and learn a bit about Bulgaria before you book, its a fairly poor country with a lot of pick pockets and beggars,be very! vigilant, never buy cigarettes from the blokes stood in the shops, buy them from the real supermarkets,or the airport, and definitely go and see nessebar...beautiful. to sum up VP was the most beautiful "hostel" i have ever stayed at.

Just back from victoria palace.worst holiday my wife and i have ever had.On arrival hotel looked very impressive, room was ok with lovely view.Next morning went for breakfast and couldnt believe the food they were expecting us to eat it truely was the vilest i have ever seen & tasted. We then went to the pool area where there was no sunbeds so we went to the beach where they charged us £10 for 2 sunbeds & an umbrella. Later on we went to the bar for a beer and the barstaff kept ignoring us.We later found out that if you wanted served you had to tip them and if you wanted to drink spirits and get a proper measure you had to tip them so it cost us about £5 a day to drink at the bar where the brands on offer tasted like parrafin. After trying to eat there for 2 days [only soup] i fell very ill and landed in hospital for 24hrs with food poisening,My wife was very distrought and went to diane the rep. for help and advice where she was told that i must have brought it over with me, She then ordered her a taxi to take her to visit me in hospital which cost my wife £60.There was no follow up from diane to see if i was ok.I spent most of the rest of my holiday recovering in our room, My wife had to eat out alone for the rest of our holiday.she had to get up at 7.30am every morning to get a sunbed.Thomas cook advertised this hotel as a 4 star all-inclusive hotel, I have been to 4star all-inclusives before where the food was good, staff friendly, waitress scervise at the pool bars, plenty of sunbeds and free private beach...HOW DARE YOU THOMAS COOK!!!!!!!!

We (my Fiance and I) returned from a week's stay at the VP on the 6th September,

Before we left i had read all the reviews on here and must admit i was dreading it!

I couldnt have been more wrong. The hotel is gorgeous, with really quirky decor, like the Egyptians going on Safari! Our room was spacious, clean with a beautiful view, we stayed on the sixth floor and seemed to have the same cleaner on our floor every day, she was polite, friendly and the room was cleaned daily to a good standard, she even made our duvets into a kind of bow decoration! and to top it off she even tidied my flip flops i had thrown around the room! being on the 6th floor we had to use the lifts which was an adventure but still fun.
The food isnt as bad as everyone makes out, we were all inclusive, and at each meal time there was always something to eat, lots of times the meals are very good, and well cooked. gorgeous salads and breakfasts, only twice did i see the same thing during one day.
The pool is amazing but strangely cold but not uncomfortably so, the bars are good, no problems with service although the spirit measures are massive, but who's complaining! Even the other tourists, mainly Germans and Russians , although slightly rude were funny to watch, i was literally awestruck at the russians aproach to taking holiday photos like a vogue photoshoot!
We would have no problem going back to VP again, all inclusive. We did eat out a couple of times and strongly recomend the Salt and Pepper bar just off the main strip 5mins from the hotel, some of the nicest food and drink ive ever had and good service, great for a long lunch, and very reasonable prices.

All in all a really good holiday, i wouldnt ever dismiss other guests reviews , everyone has their own point of view , all i can suggest is go with an open and relaxed attitude and enjoy your holiday, hopefully yours will go as well as ours.

Gareth & Emma.

Room Tip: definately get a pool/sea view, its amazing.

My husband and i are just back this morning form the Victoria Palace where we went to spend our birthdays. We have been visiting Bulgaria for over 21 years and had looked at this hotel many times. How I wish we had gone to the Evrika as usual! The rooms were all right, tidy and spacious but the cleaner was only interested in emptying the bins. One towel change all week and the bedding was never changed. The restaurant was a cattle market, everyone pushing and shoving to get a cup for coffee, whilst others were trying to get cereal and the queue for food was snaked round the area. Tables were not cleared away and you couldn't find cutlery. The quality of the food was awful, as I've said we've been eating Bulgarian food for many years but this must be the worst we've had! Staff were rude and unhelpful. To class this hotel as a 4* all inclusive is an insult to people paying for a service that is certainly misrepresented in the brochure. We spent money eating out as the hotel lacked atmosphere, the food was inedible, no entertainment most nights and plastic cups for your drink. This hotel should be rated a 2* as this is all it deserves.

We stayed at this hotel three years ago and it really was as it name suggested a palace clean and immaculate fit for royalty. What a shock, arrived on 5 September 2011, to a run down unclean smoke smelly room, even the air conditioning smelt of cigarette smoke. The curtains
were hanging off the rails. After three days the towels hadn't been changed, asked the room maid for clean towels, her reply was "Problem no towels" while shrugging her shoulders, eight days later got new towels after asking every day. Beds were not changed until we had been there a week. Thank God we were on the first floor because you couldn't trust the lifts they were breaking down too often. My husband went to the loos on the ground floor near the reception area, these had three urinals two was out of order and covered with black bin bags and were like this for most of our two week holiday. The ladies loos were just as bad you didn't know whether to walk or swim to the toilette.

The reception staff were always polite and pleasant to us, but every time we went to reception there was always someone shouting their complaints aggressively, it is not the reception staff fault that the hotel is so badly managed.

We can not comment on the food, as we walked in, saw the trolly dash for first dibbs at the food, saw what the food looked like and walked out and never went back.

It's really sad that when on the second day of your holiday you are wishing you were going home,

The hotel wants down rating to a two star and that is really being generous

Room Tip: go for a low floor just in case of the lifts.Bring your own towels and bedding.
