I have never written a review about a hotel before, and my husband and I are not the complaining sort, however I felt duty-bound to let people know what they are in for!
CHECK IN
Having read some of the reviews, it seems that a lot of people had problems with their check-in. I can't say that we experienced this. In fact our check in was quick and easy and the ladies on reception were very nice.
ACCOMODATION
We found our room pretty quickly and as it was 4am, dumped our cases and went straight to bed. The problem here was that one of the twin beds (pushed together) appeared to be broken, and as my husband has a bad back I slept (badly) in the broken bed for the first night. The mattresses were thin and cheap.
In the morning, I pulled back the mattress and noticed that actually the bed was not broken, just that two of the slats at the bottom of the bed needed placed back and we managed to fix this ourselves. I did wonder how the maid did not notice this when the beds were made? Surely this could have been noticed and fixed prior to our arrival?
The room in general was absolutely fine. Plenty of room, fridge, good storage and all of the basics that you would expect. If I'm being picky, there was a bit of skirting lying on the floor with nails sticking up from it, and if I had children this could have been a problem.
Half way through the holiday I noticed that the toilet was leaking (the smell was awful) and so reported it to the hotel reception. Reception sent someone to fix it the next day, however the toilet did continue to leak! I attempted to go back to reception and report it again, but reception was always hugely busy and so decided just to live with it for the last couple of days. Subsequently, I understand from a few people that I spoke with that I was very lucky in having my toilet issue looked into so quickly. One man in particular said that it took four days for someone to fix his air conditioning!
Also, you can't get a hot shower between 5.30 and 6.30!
FOOD
If I had to sum up the food in one word it would be 'awfull'. I suppose if you really like chips you're OK!
I am not a huge chips fan and so was not happy at the prospect of eating chips every night. On top of that I found the main meals to be pretty bland. Also, there were never any desserts left past 8pm. I thought that this was pretty out of order seeing as the restaurant is not supposed to close until 10.30pm.
My other problem was that there were never any knapkins, cutlery when you wanted them.
We ended up eating out a lot because of the above problems, but it's all very cheap so wasn't a major problem.
POOL
This was the thing that annoyed me the most about this hotel. There are blatantly not enough sun loungers for this hotel. However, I do not think that there is much that the hotel can do about this as there isn't enough space for them. My problem with this is that if you can't get a sun lounger then you would logically then go and grab a couple of the hotel owned loungers on the beach. All very nice until the man comes round and charges you 7levas for each sunbed and 7 levas for a parasol! I thought that this was outrageous, and so the next morning got up at 7.30 and claimed a couple of loungers.
TIP: Most of the loungers are taken by 8am so make sure you get down nice and early. The towels lie on the loungers sometimes until 2pm without anybody actually lying on them!
One morning my husband and I lay on the two rattan loungers which lie at the side of the bar. Approx. 10 minutes later we told to vacate them as these (speacial) loungers are for the bar manager. Nice to know that the hotel have their priorities in order!
I could go on and on about how dissapointed I was in this hotel, but frankly don't have enough time, so will leave it here for now!
I would however, really like to recommend the Flower Pub. The staff (Jimmy and Nikola) were both very friendly and the prices are super cheap. We were always made to feel very welcome.
