Day of arrival room not cleaned properly, maids only made bed and changed towels.
Restaurant, Chipped plates (when there were any) Never any Knives,Glasses or bowls.
Always had to wait for tables as so many not cleared (with staff stood talking).
Only ate twice for breakfast because of above.
only 2 lifts to serve all of front of hotel 1 of which was out of order 4 of the 7 nights spent there,Cleaning staff using lifts so guests had to wait some time upto 10 mins.
Poolside disgraseful, dirty pool, life guard only there for 2 hours a day.
The Bulgarians have changed there attitude to foreigners they are very rude and will rip you off in restaurants so watch your bills.
This is my 5 time in bulgaria (2nd in sunny beach) I returned repetidly because it was friendly and the hotels were nice but how things have changed in 2 years since my last visit .
I would not recomend Bulgaria to anyone anymore (this was echoed by most of the bus on the way back to the airport)
I traveled with Cosmos thinking everything would be ok but even the Rep was not interested in our complaints.

Was an ugly experience, many money , bad service. When we arrived were not towels in rooms. I received two days after.Terrible staff, drinks in plastic glasses, elevators and sultry languor which blocked , without electricity, quite often.Pool were not sufficient sunbeds.Restaurant dirty and warm, staff does not clean the tables, smoked on the corners and appearance were druggies , tired and careless.Chambers loud no privacy , could not sleep at night heard the big noise from neighbors through walls.Do not have its own beach and you can not put towels on the beach because it is delivered by local mobs who want to rent them sunbeds which costs 21Leva (two sunbeds plus a umbrela) I had a big problems with them.ATENTTION not change money at exchange houses the beach
be mistaken practice other than the displayed prices Be very careful, exchange only in hotels.
Bulgarians are not ambili ,cheating and stealing, will take to beat avoid to stay talking to them or come in conflict. I was witness such an event.Good Luck.AVOID BULGARIA

My wife, daughter and I spent our holidays in Chaika resort, Metropol hotel one week (from 19.07.09 to 26.07.09). After week of torments we moved to the other 4 star hotel and got excellent holidays.

So under the order:

Room.
First glance has been pleased by an interior and a side sea view from a balcony. And than I was disappointing all rest week of my holidays. Wardrobe hasn’t doors handles, air condition system and phone was out of order. I looked around and understood that there are not chairs and wet clothes drainer. I was overtaken by horror when I saw bathroom. Box less then 2 sq.m without hooks for towels and shower blind. Mirror located in the corner and has right angle shape. Lamp is gleaming (I did all my best to get shaved, it took about 20 min). Room has bad noise insulation. I couldn’t sleep last 2 nights.

Hotel.
Luxury, marble, furniture is hiding a dump.
It is a hustle and bustle place. There are a lot of young people who need beer or vodka +sprite and loud shouting. They do not know what culture is. Elevators and corridors are full of cigarettes ends and other rubbish. Reception and entrance hall looks like terminal. Luggage room is too little that people need to stay with their luggage in hall and wait transfer. All day long entrance hall is overcrowded. Fortunately hotel has mini club for children but has not any kind of animation. Chaika resort has only 5 benches but you can not sit there. They are blocked by cars. All free space turned to parking.

Staff.
I can’t understand who hired personnel without relevant work experience. Most part of staff speaks only Bulgarian, little Russian and less English. Receptionists are not friendly and executable. Problems with faulty air condition, phone and chairs I decided all day during the one week. About results: I had chairs and conditioner after 3 days, phone after 6 days. Instead wet clothes drainer I used string that I bought in a supermarket. I want to say THANKS to barmen Bobby Chernov and baby sitter Koni. They are really hard workers and I wish them career opportunity.

Restaurant.
It is terrible. Long queues, dirty knives and tablecloths, lack of napkins and warm water for children. Nobody knows where I can get it. Food quality and variety leaves much to be desired. I had all inclusive service to my regret. I bought yoghurt for my child in nearest supermarket. Chips on dinner is not good for 4 year child too.

Result is: It is not 4 star hotel. I consider that it is 2+. I have never seen that in 3 star hotels. Chaika is resort for young adults. Unfortunately I had not found any opinions about this resort before my travel. Now I see that Victoria group is unfair company and I can not give you advice to work with them.

I have never written a review about a hotel before, and my husband and I are not the complaining sort, however I felt duty-bound to let people know what they are in for!
CHECK IN
Having read some of the reviews, it seems that a lot of people had problems with their check-in. I can't say that we experienced this. In fact our check in was quick and easy and the ladies on reception were very nice.

ACCOMODATION
We found our room pretty quickly and as it was 4am, dumped our cases and went straight to bed. The problem here was that one of the twin beds (pushed together) appeared to be broken, and as my husband has a bad back I slept (badly) in the broken bed for the first night. The mattresses were thin and cheap.

In the morning, I pulled back the mattress and noticed that actually the bed was not broken, just that two of the slats at the bottom of the bed needed placed back and we managed to fix this ourselves. I did wonder how the maid did not notice this when the beds were made? Surely this could have been noticed and fixed prior to our arrival?

The room in general was absolutely fine. Plenty of room, fridge, good storage and all of the basics that you would expect. If I'm being picky, there was a bit of skirting lying on the floor with nails sticking up from it, and if I had children this could have been a problem.

Half way through the holiday I noticed that the toilet was leaking (the smell was awful) and so reported it to the hotel reception. Reception sent someone to fix it the next day, however the toilet did continue to leak! I attempted to go back to reception and report it again, but reception was always hugely busy and so decided just to live with it for the last couple of days. Subsequently, I understand from a few people that I spoke with that I was very lucky in having my toilet issue looked into so quickly. One man in particular said that it took four days for someone to fix his air conditioning!

Also, you can't get a hot shower between 5.30 and 6.30!

FOOD
If I had to sum up the food in one word it would be 'awfull'. I suppose if you really like chips you're OK!

I am not a huge chips fan and so was not happy at the prospect of eating chips every night. On top of that I found the main meals to be pretty bland. Also, there were never any desserts left past 8pm. I thought that this was pretty out of order seeing as the restaurant is not supposed to close until 10.30pm.

My other problem was that there were never any knapkins, cutlery when you wanted them.

We ended up eating out a lot because of the above problems, but it's all very cheap so wasn't a major problem.

POOL
This was the thing that annoyed me the most about this hotel. There are blatantly not enough sun loungers for this hotel. However, I do not think that there is much that the hotel can do about this as there isn't enough space for them. My problem with this is that if you can't get a sun lounger then you would logically then go and grab a couple of the hotel owned loungers on the beach. All very nice until the man comes round and charges you 7levas for each sunbed and 7 levas for a parasol! I thought that this was outrageous, and so the next morning got up at 7.30 and claimed a couple of loungers.
TIP: Most of the loungers are taken by 8am so make sure you get down nice and early. The towels lie on the loungers sometimes until 2pm without anybody actually lying on them!

One morning my husband and I lay on the two rattan loungers which lie at the side of the bar. Approx. 10 minutes later we told to vacate them as these (speacial) loungers are for the bar manager. Nice to know that the hotel have their priorities in order!

I could go on and on about how dissapointed I was in this hotel, but frankly don't have enough time, so will leave it here for now!

I would however, really like to recommend the Flower Pub. The staff (Jimmy and Nikola) were both very friendly and the prices are super cheap. We were always made to feel very welcome.

i have just come back from one week in sunny beach. The rooms of the chaika beach hotel were ok , but the food was awful...and the restaurant very, very, small for such a big hotel. the personnel was very rude, they dont know english, and they are not very friendly. When we arrived at the reception they put us to wait 3 hours because the check -in is at 14 o'clok and that's it!! ( we arrived at 11 o clock ). the restaurant has no air conditioned and it's very hot, but the most horrible thing is that they dont have enough dishes, or napkins, or hot water....we had to wait every day for those things i said. we had also to wait to ENTER the restaurant so we could eat. Wait in the line for about 15 minutes because there were no tables available......very upseting........so, if you didn't make a reservation, please don't book there!! or at least you can go only with breakfast, not AI as we were, because there are a lot of restaurants and the food is very, very, cheap.
You can take a bus to old town of nesebar- more quiet and nice. It will cost you 1 leva/person.
I forgot to tell you, if you want to stay at the beach, must pay for sunbed, umbrella-7 leva/ each.
Also if want to stay at the poll, you have to get up at 6. 30 to put your towel, otherwise you dont have place.
I hope you will find my review helpful...and have a nice vacation..!!
