“Beautiful apartments”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 31, 2012

My boyfriend and I stayed at Treetop apartments in June 2012. We had never been to Bulgaria before and were a little nervous about the big resorts, as we really like to have peace and quiet. Treetop is the best of both worlds - the apartments are modern, well-equipped, spacious and beautiful on a quiet hillside overlooking the sea. And it's only 10/15 minutes walk from the bars and restaurants of Albena (more on that later).

Christine owns the apartments and is so welcoming. She knows the local area like the back of her hand - so put the guide book down and just ask her. We wished we had done so earlier on! She does a range of really reasonable trips to local sights, and can even offer really cheap car hire. We highly recommend Paradise Beach - you'd never find it by yourself and it's genuinely one of the nicest beaches I've ever been to. But give the hot springs a miss as they're really run down and crowded - not at all what you'd expect from the way they're described! We wish we'd gone to the mud baths instead.

We didn't really love Albena. It's not a town and there's not anything interesting to see - it's a purpose built resort with a load of all inclusive hotels. But the beach is very nice and as long as you don't expect anything else, you won't be disappointed. We did find a couple of nice places, just at the start of the strip (if you're walking from the apartments). Highly recommend the beach club (great cocktails) and Beer House Kartel (which weirdly has the fastest free wifi I've ever used!). These are the best places.

Bulgaria itself is quite run down. It's not unusual to find ramshackle bars at the side of the road every few miles. Having said that, when you get away from the resorts the countryside is some of the prettiest I've ever seen. We hired a car from Christine for a few days and enjoyed driving about a bit. Bulgaria has 300 days of sunshine and we enjoyed 7 of them. The weather really is beautiful and the sea is warm and clear. In Albena, particularly, it's great for kids as it's very shallow for some way out.

All in all, the apartments are a stunning, tranquil place to spend a holiday and Christine really goes out of her way to make it special. It's a great place for couples and families alike, and there's something for everyone. Bulgaria does have a lot to offer, but you do need to go out to find it as Albena is just a busy resort - so hire a car if you can and follow Christine's advice!

Room Tip: They're all great but the top apartments will have the best view. Families can have adjoining ap...

My wife and I stayed at the Tree Tops Apartments in July 2011. We were looking for a holiday with a difference and certainly found that in this, as yet, untarnished area of Fish Fish, just outside the resort of Albena.

The Apartments were perfect; the accommodation was spotlessly clean and offered large, light, comfortable rooms and a balcony with spectacular views of the Black Sea and the surrounding, dense woodland.

We were looking for a holiday away from the usual commercial noise and nonsense, yet with enough evening entertainment to keep us happy and this we found easily. The nearest resort of Albena is about a fifteen-minute walk away, though bus or taxis can be sought for those who left their walking boots at home. The resort of Balchik can be reached by taxi or bus in just twenty minutes, though my wife and I, as enthusiastic walkers, did take the scenic coast road and walked home on a couple of occasions in just over an hour.

Both Albena and Balchik offer a good variety of evening entertainment, with modern, well-equipped hotels welcoming non-residents into their all-inclusive facilities. One price allows an evening of entertainment with as much food and drink as you could want. Further along the coast, one can enjoy the resort of Golden Sands with its highly entertaining evening Casino, which provides a fantastic evening out at a very reasonable cost.

While it is very cheap and easy to travel by bus and taxis seem to appear just as one needs one, we chose to take advantage of the Apartments owner, Christine Fritz’s offer to ferry us around. Ms Fritz lives at the Apartments and so has a wealth of local knowledge she is willing to share with you. Ms Fritz knows all the best places to visit; the good restaurants, local taxi drivers and the most secluded beaches and is generous in her offer of showing you around.

I would recommend this holiday to couples looking for a something just a little bit different from the usual commercial norm, but do visit soon as I am not sure how long this little gem of an area will remain a secret!

What a little GEM we found in a secluded spot over looking the Black sea, in a lovely peacefull wooded area.with a little local well stoked shop at hand, and amazing little reastruants cloea by where the GBP went a long, long way with drinks and a meal for 2 costing apx ten pounds. The stunning comtempory apartments are kept Beautifull and clean. The english owner was Brillant taking us to some wonderfull places that equal any where we'v been in the world. The trips on offer from the Apartments are Excellent value for money If you are looking for more action this is all on hand only a short walk away or a taxie ride away.On the whole there is something for everyone here, What a find in a magnificent location we will definitely return.

Room Tip: The owner will give you the best for your family very helpfull lady on site..

Family of 4 to include children aged 10 & 14 years holidayed at the Treetop Apartments during August 2011 for two glorious weeks, exploring Albena & the surrounding areas.

On arrival, we were delighted to find our apartment was spacious, well laid out & spotlessly clean. The location was perfect for us, in an extremely quiet spot, yet within a ten minute walk of Albena beach, offering mile after mile of beautiful sandy beach; safe & shallow enough to ensure the safety of our children, yet just a short swim further out to discover the delights of Black Sea snorkelling.

For those seeking a little more commercial action, walking further along the beach one could find pedalos, jet ski hire & all the usual beachfront offerings.

The weather was perfect, every day filled with glorious sunshine, with temperatures averaging in the mid eighties & then dropping pleasantly in the evenings to ensure comfortable sleeping at night, without the need for air conditioning.

There are a good number of modern, well-equipped hotels in the centre of Albena openly welcoming non-residents for dining & evening entertainment. Peppered along the beach road are a good variety of unbelievably reasonably priced cafes, bars & fine dining eateries, with our family of four eating very well at a cost of between 20-30 leva, equating to just £10-£20 sterling including drinks at current conversion rates.

Multilingual owner in residence, Christine, made us extremely welcome & was an invaluable asset on our first trip to Bulgaria. Christine offers a selection of bespoke & escorted sightseeing trips at a very reasonable cost; we enjoyed trips to a local mud bath (hilarious & has to be seen to be believed) a day-trip to an idyllic deserted beach we would never have found on our own & another to an exclusive beach with sun loungers & hammocks looking out to sea, more usually found in the expensive areas of the Caribbean.

When asked, Christine offered advice on the best restaurants, the most interesting beaches for snorkelling, bus routes & taxi arrangements, but on days we travelled independently or spent time enjoying the apartment, not once did we find her intrusive to our family time.

My family & I thoroughly enjoyed our first holiday in Bulgaria & cannot recommend the Treetop Apartments highly enough. We were looking forward to a good holiday, but discovered far more than we could have ever hoped for & plan to visit again ourselves very soon.

Room Tip: All rooms are extremely good - just liaise with owner as to your personal requirements

Tree top apartments is a lovely place to stay, modern, very clean, spacious and amazing view from your balcony. The lady who owns the apartments is very nice, she knows all the best places to eat and drink. I would go again and stay at the tree top apartments. Albena is very nice place and the beach very clean, the overall holiday was amazing and I would recommend it.

I liked tree top apartments so much the first time in '09 that I returned again this summer. The apartments are well furnished, comfortable and very clean all with balconies with beautiful views of the nature reserve and ocean. The owner is a lovely english lady who knows the local people and all the good places to eat, drink and sight see, most days offering to take us to places or help is to organise. Yet if you wanted to be left alone to discover Bulgaria alone she wouldn't be offended. The beach is quite a walk away but worth it once you get there and the near by town of Albena is good for all ages. Offering lively nightlife if you want it but equally will suit you if you want a quiet holiday. This holiday wouldn't be suited to the physically impaired or disabled as it does involve a lot of walking over uneven terrain.

If you are looking for a clean, modern, spacious apartment to make your quiet nest on the bulgarian coast then this is definitely the place for you.
Car is not mandatory but highly recomended since the place in a wonderful natural context but not straight in Albena resort.
Owner is very kind and helpful and will adress you to the best restaurants and spots around.
