It was a really great experience staying at Flamingo Grand. Great personnel, always friendly and helpful, clean rooms, comfortable and spacious, and wonderful food, diverse and tasty.

Highly recommended.

I have been four times on this location and every time my expectations were fulfilled. Highly recommended for family with kids. Located not far from the sea (around 300m), the hotel has however couple of outdoor swimming pools.

The hotel is right in the middle of the resort so therefore you don't have far to go to get all that Albena has to offer. The hotel entrance is very big and bright and staff are very helpful. The room is of a good size with modern furniture and very clean. We stayed in a studio for 2 adults and 1 child and was able to move around the room with ease. You can pay to view films etc but we didn't use this facilities so not sure if good value for money. The food of a good standard with plenty of choice for the Continental taste and dining areas are very clean and bright. The pool excellent very clean and a good size the entertainment around the pool a bit hit and miss, same thing every day but ok. Almost everything is there you might need in and around the hotel and the staff happy to help.

Room Tip: All rooms are pool view but to get the sea view go up to 4/5th floors

This hotel is by far one of the better quality ones.
Set back from the beach aprox 100 meters, but worth it, as most of the beachfront hotels are quite old and shabby looking.
This hotel is very much family orientated, lots of kids and noise, especially round the large pool, but fairly quiet after dinner time..
We had an executive studio ( large double bed with mosquito netting, lounge area, kitchenette, 2 toilets , shower and bath & balcony with seating) in the 9th floor, as rooms with sea view only start from 8th floor onwards, due to large trees blocking the sea view on the lower floors.

The higher floors, offering more peace and luxury, are well worth it.

Half board is a must, as the breakfast buffet ( 07:30 - 10:30) is fantastic with extensive choices.
The dinner buffet (18:30 - 21:30) offers so much choice, that you cant sample it all in one go.
Good quality food for every taste, although sometimes a bit cold by the time you get to your table..
No need to take lunch (12:30 - 14:30) as well, as you really wont be hungry so soon after breakfast.

The restaurant is quite large, and also spreads onto a large terrace overlooking the pool, with plenty of seating.
Very spacious and not cramped.
No rush or large queues on either buffets even in July when we went.

Only drawback is the internet. ;-))
If you don't depend on it and can do without your iPad or laptop for a few days, you are ok.
You must register at arrival for the "Free internet" ( 500KB) in order to get a code and password.
Each of your devises needs a separate pass code. So if each of you have an iPad, you need a separate code for each one, as 2 of your devises can not log in at the same time, with the same code.
Internet is extremely slow, and you have to walk around the room to pick the best spot to get a signal with 1 - 2 bars;-))

There is also the paying kind of internet access ( "Ultra" up to 5 MB) for 25 leva = £10, you get a 6 day internet scratchcard, but again each devise needs to pay this amount, unless you take it in turns to log on.
Again the signal is not terrific in the rooms, but brilliant in the restaurant.;-))

If you travel without kids , as a couple, book a room on the higher floors, including half board!!

Room Tip: If you travel without kids , as a couple, book a room on the higher floors. Take half board, (Break...

I am a regular visitor to Bulgaria as my partner is Bulgarian and I love the country. When it was time for my parents first visit to Bulgaria we spent a great deal of time researching hotels which would suit their specific needs and settled on 'The Flamingo Grand' having been less than enthused by some of our previous hotel stays. This was the right choice. Of course it was equipped with all the amenities you would expect from a modern hotel but it went a great deal further.
As a surprise for my parents we wanted to get access to their room early so that we could leave a few gifts and family in jokes and the hotel were happy to oblige in beautiful and polite English then when my parents arrived at the hotel they were great smoothly and swiftly as I would have expected. We were all lead to our rooms which were immaculate spacious suits with a beautiful view down to the beach and flowing gauzy curtains through out adding a Mediterranean stylish elegance to the black sea ...... mmmmm relaxing.
At the end of the day the thing that really stood out for all of us though apart from the excellent polite and helpful service was the food. Breakfast was a bountiful supply of all Bulgaria has to offer along with all the essentials to make an English man at home. Not to mention the gorgeous dripping fresh honey comb which went marvelously on my fresh hand made pancakes. Dinner was a different hand carved roast every night along with well flavoured food from all around the world and finally there was the night with the hand made Crepe Suzette....... WOW my life was complete or was when a roaming Mariachi band stopped by to serenade my international family.
The Flamingo Grand represents a fantastic hotel with excellent service, rooms and food. It is close to the beach and close to vibrant and historic Varna not to mention the historic wealth of eastern Bulgaria. I would happily recommend this to anyone weather you want to absorb some history and culture or relax in the sun. I loved it.

Room Tip: It is worth upgrading to a suit

It is a wonderful resort with the Black Sea nearby. I was there for a conference for 6 days and the restaurant was excellent for all meals. Also, the Bistro in the pool area was excellent. The rooms are well maintained with daily maid service. Of course the weather was perfect!

A lovely hotel. We had a wonderful time doing absolutely nothing. All the facilities were excellent, all the staff were friendly and helpful. The most relaxed holiday I've ever had. My favourite part of the day was lunch in the outdoor bistro, the waiters there were so friendly and funny and the food was great. The Half Board evening menu was patchy, some nights the selection was full of lovely, tempting things, other nights it wasn't so much to our taste, but that's our taste and I think the food was well catered for varied tastes. The one big irritation was that the whole resort seems to believe that loud music, coming from all directions is a good thing. It isn't, please just play the right music for the right time. Why did the Piano Bar think we wanted to listen to rave stuff? Tinkling piano is what you want from a piano bar. Ear-blasting Mini Disco music is great for the kids dancing in the pool activity, adult water polo doesn't require any background music. The simple sounds like children laughing, water splashing, lawns being mowed, quiet conversation, what's wrong with them?

Room Tip: Ground floor rooms are best for families with children old enough to go to the pool by themselves...
