“Great hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 7, 2014

Very nice room king bed, would love to have a table to play cards, seems like many hotels are doing away with this. Beautiful walk in shower and big. Continental breakfast very good hot meal bacon and sausages. Great bath gels and shampoos. Next door to allerus arena .only thing wrong paper thin walls. We were on 2 floor and could hear kids yelling at pool. Decent size hot tub and walk in pool

Room Tip: As far from pool

Thank you for reviewing our property! We do have suite type rooms with one king bed and a pull out sofa that has a small table that would work well for playing cards! I apologize for the pool noise, we appreciate your patience and understanding. We will be happy to place you in a suite on the third floor for your next stay with us!

4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 5, 2014

We just returned from spending 2 nights at the Sleep Inn Grand Forks April 3-5th.

The hotel is beautiful. All furniture is very modern & rooms are decorated nicely. Flat screen TV, fridge & microwave in every room. My only complaint would be that there wasn't a safe in the room to secure our items. This was the tail end of Canadian spring break and there was also some kind of basketball tourney on which made the hotel very busy with kids. The hallways were somewhat noisey with kids running & being loud late into the night going between rooms and from the pool, we had several people knocking on our door at various hours advising they obvioulsy had the wrong room.

Making the reservation was slow but pleasant. The reservation person neglected to add onto our file that we had a Spring Fever coupon when I called so there was a mix up on the rate at the initial check in time however that was straightened out quickly. Keys were also only keyed for 1 night instead of 2 so on Friday we couldn't get into our room - just an oversight & again fixed immediately with apologies. Front desk staff was professional & friendly & quick to resolve both of our small issues.

The pool is a bit small for the size of this hotel. Again, with many kids it was pretty busy. Pool area is clean and the hot tub was the perfect temperature.

Beds were comfy, good selection of pillows. Lots of towels and very clean.

Breakfast would be my only complaint and again, probably only due to it being so busy. I found it very chaotic. Staff had a very difficult time keeping up to the demands of the number of people in attendance at the included breakfast although they sure did their best. Many of the items were empty with people waiting - once the fresh food was brought out, those that were waiting dug in & left the trays empty once again for a new group to start the process all over again. There were not enough seats in the eating area & we found that many people resorted back to their room to eat. I'm sure the eating area is adequate at average capacity times. The quality of food was very good - bacon, scrambled eggs, sausages, biscuits & gravy - waffles - juice, toast, oatmeal, yogurt etc...it was all there & it was all good.

Overall we enjoyed our stay. I found the 2nd night rate a bit steep at $159 however with the spring fever coupon on Thursday night of $75 it balanced out to a decent price. There an elevator in this 3 floor hotel for those with mobility issues and the TV channels are great for those with small kids which included Disney Junior which we have found lacking in other hotels.

Would definately recommend this hotel to others & would stay again in the future. Located on the parking lot of the Alerus centre it is close to the facility as well as shopping & restaurants. There is also a newly built Tim's & liquor store across from the CanadInn just across the street too - very convenient.

Thank you for taking the time to write such a detailed and honest review! We're grateful that you were patient and understanding with the sport group staying with us. We will discuss with our staff ways to keep the noise level down in the hallways when we have youth groups stay with us and how we can make all of our guests more comfortable on those busy weekends. I apologize for the confusion regarding your room rate, I'm glad to hear we were able to fix that for you at check in. We're happy that you were able to take advantage of the coupon in the Winnipeg Free Press, it is our way of saying thank you to our Canadian friends!

We have stayed at this hotel twice and both times have been very impressed. The hotel itself is perfect for our needs with a swimming pool, hot tub, exercise room, and breakfast every morning.

The excellent staff all go out of their way to make our visit as enjoyable as possible.

Heartily recommended.

I've been coming to this hotel for years, and I look forward to my stays here every time. I travel to the Grand Forks area for work regularly, and have stayed at MANY of the hotels in town over the past twenty years. Having stayed at this hotel over 30 times in the past few years, I feel I am finally qualified to give a thorough review. Heh! So...
1) I find that the rooms are exceptionally clean. They are modern with nice TVs and very comfortable beds (a must for me).
2) The staff is very accommodating and concerned about my well being. When I arrive, I look forward to seeing them as if they are old friends, which they kind of are after many years.
3) Location, location, location! I find this location to be a perfect site for whatever you are doing in Grand Forks or just traveling through. The hotel is not right in the noisy hectic south side of town, yet not so far away that it is still very easy and quick to, and that goes for getting to any part of Grand Forks. With the Alerus Center right next door, if you are in town for a convention, concert, sporting event or whatever, you are walking across the parking lot! This is also a great advantage if you are pulling a big trailer or driving a rig, because there is more parking here than any other hotel you have ever seen! It's also very close to the UND campus. Easy on and off of Hwy 29 here, yet you are just far enough away from it, that you you never hear the freeway from inside the hotel.
4) Reasonably priced. I have stayed in many different rooms here, from suites to regular rooms, and I've found them all to be great rooms with fairly priced rates.
5) The extras. I know we have come to expect the little things out of our hotel stays, but still, not all hotels do it right. Here, you will have a comprehensive Continental Breakfast (great sausage), plenty of toiletries, powerful showers (better than home) and if you are checking in at the right time and are lucky, fresh baked cookies at the door when you come enter!
Jan, April and the entire staff, thank you for the great stays over the years, I look forward to many more!

Room Tip: If you are staying here during the winter and have an auto starter on your vehicle, be sure to ask f...

We stayed at this hotel March 30 - 31, 2014. We stayed here on two previous occasions, and once again we were pleased with our choice of hotel. Very clean and affordable, especially with the Shopper Special promotion price. Our daughter loved the pool area! We ended up literally getting snowed in on Monday night. All the restaurants in town were closing down due to the storm. The staff made countless frozen pizzas in the continental breakfast area, put out cookies and popcorn and even put out waffles for the hungry guests! We even saw hotel employees helping guests shovel their stuck cars in the parking lot! The staff went above and beyond our expectations! We will definitely stay here again in the future.

Thank you for acknowledging the high quality customer service our staff provided while our guests were snowed in that day! We tried to make the best of an unfortunate situation and we are grateful to have guests like you appreciate that! Our staff that was also stranded had a memorable experience to say the least, as did our guests. Again, thank you for your review we truly appreciate your business and look forward to hosting your next visit to Grand Forks!

On March 31, 2014 , we were a stranded in Grand Forks. We were able to get the last room. Grateful was an understatement as Xena had a fury to unleash. The staff were kind and helpful. The room was very nice, and we enjoyed our stay despite being stranded. The whole stay was pleasant and I would highly recommend a return visit.

Blizzard Xena caused a lot of troubles for travelers in early April! It's nice to know that our staff made your stay in Grand Forks a good one despite the circumstances. We hope you will come back again soon! We'll be here for you rain or shine! (Or snow and wind!)

I have found this facility to be a very friendly and clean place to stay. It was very affordable and April O and staff are very willing and helpful. Almost like making accommodations at your own home. Grand Forks is truly fortunate to have such a welcoming group.

Room Tip: I have stayed here many times and have yet to find a room I dislike.
