“Great hotel for the price”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 12, 2007

I wasn't sure about this hotel when we pulled up or went in the lobby but the front staff was very friendly, the room was large and clean and my kids enjoyed the pool. The breakfast in the morning was ok with bagels, toast and cereal. For the price I thought it was a great hotel and would stay here again.

This is a great hotel to stay at the price was right $59 /night (off their web page).

The room we selected had a fridge and microwave and was clean and new looking.

Included in the price was a daily breakfast that offers bagels, toast and waffles, juice, coffee, cereal and milk.. the kids loved it.

The pool is nice and the hottubs are hot and both are open until 11pm each night.

It's situated away from the mall and shops but this is only about a 5 min ride away.

Definately a kid friendly and family friendly hotel! We'll be back for sure!

I stayed with my family on the weekend of June 23rd and picked this hotel because it was mentioned by people I work with and there was a coupon in the paper.
On the plus side; The price was right (2 nights for just over $100.00). The occupancy was low and my children had the whole pool and hot tubs too themselves. The free breakfast was good and there was no a waiting in the morning. The staff was very friendly and accommodating.
On the negative side; It is an older hotel and shows its age. The no smoking rooms are on the same floors and I would suggest that if you are booking the hotel to try and locate yourself the farthest away from the smoking rooms as you can and place a towel under the door at night. The hotel is located a little away from the malls but the malls are only a short drive.

For good economy I would stay there again (save the money on the room and spend it at the malls).

I stay in this Travelodge every year for the entire month of October, and I always return because this is a very accomodating place to stay. The rooms are clean, the pool is always clean and heated, the front staff are extremely friendly, and there is a great continental breakfast every morning (as tasty as it is though, It gets a little old after having it for 30 mornings in a row! Haha!) I consider it my second home in North Dakota, and I recommend it to everyone who asks about a good place to stay in Grand Forks.

  • Liked — The friendly staff and management, and the Jacuzzi suites.
  • Disliked — the location is kinda inconvenient, not real close to anything meaningful in Grand Forks.

4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 22, 2006

Just came back from a "Mother/Daughter" weekend in Grand Forks, where we stayed at the Travelodge. I had stayed here once before a few years ago and there were some problems, but I had heard they fixed the place up and decided to give it a second chance.

The rooms are spacious, and very clean. The addition of a fridge and microwave was very welcome and came in handy. There is a free breakfast that was adequate, although some fruit would have been nice. However, there was a waffle machine, toast and cereals along with juice, milk and coffee, available until 10:00 AM in a nice breakfast room. A complimentary copy of the Sunday paper was left outside our door. All these extras, for a rack rate of $69? Unheard of! Bear in mind you can probably get a discounted rate. The pool area has a large pool, hot tub and sauna and all appear to be in working order. Front desk staff was very helpful and my 11 year old daughter was very happy with the large number of premium TV channels!

I would have given this place the highest rating but for one problem, the strong smell of cigarette smoke coming from other rooms. I was in room 122 and there were smoking rooms nearby. When I mentioned this to the staff I was told that when you reserve, you can request a non-smoking room away from all smoking rooms, which is what I will do next time.

Hotel location was optimal for us as we were there to "power shop". I alway find good deals at the K-mart, Big Lots and Family Dollar which are all next door, and it's just a short drive around the corner from Columbia Mall, Target and all the other places we Canadians flock to. Ponderosa is also next door and offers a wonderful buffet.

The noise level was contained but it is a family hotel so expect lots of kids in the pool. We will certainly stay there again!

This is a great hotel! For a very reasonable price, my family and I got a large room, very clean, free continental breakfast (cereals, waffles, bagels, etc.) and the swimming pool was large and clean. The staff was friendly also! I was very satisfied with this hotel and would recommend it to others!
