“Run down”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed June 28, 2012

This was the only hotel we could get on a Tuesday night @ 8:00 pm. This property is terribly run down but passably clean. The breakfst was pretty good, the girl kept it stocked well right up to 9:00 when it shut down. The breakfast girl deserves a better service rating than the frontdesk clerk.

I stayed at the Comfort Suites with a coworker for an educational conference. We thought we had booked the Country Suites but were ok with the Comfort Suites as the one in Bismarck wasn't too bad. The smell of the building was terrible. It smelled of mold and the rooms were so humid the windows had condensation on them. When the a/c was put on it smelled like mold. Ironically we were there for a pulmonary conference. When asked for a different room they said they were full. The breakfast was not set up and there was nobody to be found to get change when needed. After finding out how lovely our coworkers had it at the Country Suites I went to the front desk hoping they had an explanation as to our extremely high rates (higher than they quoted on phone but would not give back because it was after 4)... They were "mid renovation" according to the front desk and assured me they would have the manager call but instead one of the front desk girls called, I know this because I could see them on the phone while I was still parked out front waiting for my coworker to get her bag. I was thoroughly disgusted. The service was poor and the room was gross. However we did get to use the hotel as an example at my speech in front of half the physicians in the state, as an example of how people die of lung infections from molds and fungi. :)

For a 100 dollar a night hotel how can SO many things be broken.
Hot tub broken, pool heater broken, ice maker broken, back door lock to get into hotel broken, printer on computer to print boarding pass broken, security lock on room door gone.
Felt like this was a motel 6 not a comfort Suite.

Quite happy with the hotel for the price paid. The room was large and clean, with a fridge and coffee maker. The one thing I really missed in this room was a soap dish for the bars of soap. I know it's a small thing but what a mess soap bars make when lying on a counter! LOL!!
Staff were all very friendly and the breakfast was quite good. Check in and check out was quick and easy and hotel rules were explained very well so there was no question about anything. The pool is nice though smaller than I expected but the hot tub was really scary!!!
Not sure what was going on with it but it STANK!!! It was also really green, scummy green not pretty......it doesn't appear that the hot tub has been cleaning in a long, long, long while and you could see the dirt clinging to the sides of the hot tub. That was one thing that definitely ruined things for us. Small things need to be fixed, the electrical panel in the hallway on the second floor where someone has tried hard to pry it open, the signs on the doors and the light switches and plug covers in the room. Nothing major that impacts on a stay at the hotel. I would stay again!

Room Tip: If you want quiet, head for the second floor at the ends of the building, away from the pool

Let me start with, I stay a lot in Fargo. And have stayed at most hotels, I don't have a favorite. But I needed a room for a VA check. I seen that this place takes VA vouchers, so I called and the lady who answered the phone at Comfort Suites explained what that all involved. So I made a registration, very friendly, easy thing to do. When I showed up, another friendly checkin. Had a great nights sleep, great breakfast with another conversation with the lady that makes a very good breakfast for a "free continental". I found this little gem because of the VA, I will stay again. Friendly, clean, very nice room. If you are a Vet, be ready to be respected and treated very well, plus I got a "thanks for your service". wth, why have I not stayed at this place before?

Checked in 16/02/12, found the pool closed for treatment for e-coli. Desk clerk Cory, was evasive about how long it would be closed. Another desk clerk, Sammi, was very helpful, offering the use of the hotel pool next door, and giving more info about the process. When the pool area re-opened it had a strong chlorine odour, and the hot tub had grit and scum. The room was large, quiet, bed comfortable. Breakfast was typical, and other hotel staff pleasant and hard working.

Room Tip: near the pool was quiet and convenient

Front desk lady at check in seemed annoyed that I was interupting her time with her friends. Our room would have been wonderful if it was clean. We didn't even mind the peeling wall paper at the seems. Grout in the bathroom was a brownish black instead of its original color, hinges on door were rusted, hair in bathroom sink from previous guest, cobb webbs in corner. The blowdryer cord was the worst. The white cord was literally brown & black with filth. 1 inch all the way around the room of dirt against the wall. Never pulled out the vacume hose & vacumed. I was going th fill out the comment card & it was already filled out with good marks & left blank to just fill in your personal info like name, etc. We usually like staying at comfort suites but this was not what we expected but it wasn't the worst hotel ever. The beds were comfortable & it's a pet friendly hotel

Room Tip: No elevator
