“Great place with very friendly staff”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 4, 2010

After staying in a dive (see Days Inn at Devils Lake review) we needed a place like home. This hotel exceeded that. The room was clean, comfortable, spacious and with a jacuzzi tub as well as a shower. A happy hour is held each night in a small meeting room. The hostess,Lisa, was knowledgeable about the area and could give good recommendations on places to eat and shop. It was obvious that she enjoys her job and is very caring for about the patrons. All the staff we encountered, greeted us with a smile and was friendly. This hotel was a great value at a convenient location to the highway.

There is nothing particularly exciting about the Fireside Inn, but it has basic amenities, a friendly staff, and is clean. It shares with other hotels in Devils Lake a peculiar attachment to very low shower heads. If you're taller than 5'2" or so, prepare to hunch over to get your head and shoulders wet in the shower.

This was a good find in a small town. Clean rooms and great staff complete with a good breakfast.

For a small hotel this was a very pleasant stay. The other reviews were spot on that it is a clean and friendly hotel. The rooms were nice with a fridge, microwave and flat screen TV. The free breakfast buffet included scrambled eggs, sausage links, waffles, bagels, good coffee and was it all was well stocked. The pool was a little small but our baseball team seemed to enjoy it all the same. Overall, it is a great value for the price you pay! I would definitely stay at this hotel again if we are in the area.

We stayed one night after deciding we'd had enough driving for the day. We booked over the phone from about two hours out of town after having my brother check rates and find us a number online. The staff that assisted us on the phone was not the friendliest we encountered, but the staff at the front desk was courteous when we arrived.

The rooms were clean and quiet, and the continental breakfast was great, with waffles, scrambled eggs, and sausage. Another reviewer is correct in noting the parking lot needs a repaving, but that was the only flaw I can think to address.

In its category of smaller motels, I found many unexpected 'extras' at this inn, from the large flat-screen TV, to the generous amenities left for my use. Staff was courteous, even at late check-in, and the included breakfast bar was amply stocked and very clean. Rooms were recently updated with new carpet and bedding. I found mildly 'dated' furnishings, but they are kept very clean.

I would be happy to stay here again, and recommend it to others. It's evident that this motel tries hard, and the staff takes pride in their respective jobs.

  • Liked — I could get a room where NO pets are allowed; where staff is friendly; rooms are spotless.
  • Disliked — Parking lot...could use leveling/resurfacing.

We stayed here while visiting some relatives. We had stayed here in Sept. 2007 and the room was quite different than this trip. This trip the room had been nicely remodeled with new furnishings and carpet. It was very nice accommodations for the price. The breakfast was great. The hotel is great for kids with a nice pool and playground outside. The location is convenient. When we stayed midweek, it was full. The only issue that we had was the night staff didn't seem to have a handle on their position. Our checkin was at midnight and even though I had requested a late checkin, the night staff were quite rude to us about their mistake. However, in the end, all was ironed out and the management was very helpful about taking care of the situation. Overall, it is a very pleasant hotel for a very afforable price.
