We've stayed here many times and really like it, but have found out, you gotta know what room you're getting.

Pros:
Great location, very nice common areas, clean pools and facilities, friendly staff, kitchenettes, great oceanfront views.

Cons:
Rooms can be great or can be kinda spent. Depending on the room you get, they are very different in decor, location and amenities. For example - full frig or mini, great views or okay on main level, noisy (as in right across from the maids closet or tucked quietly in a corner).

I checked into the hotel with my mother and 2 children for a beach get away in late September. The room itself was a bit small but it was able to accommodate us. There are 2 bathrooms with one containing a shower bath/combo. There is a nice living room area with a tv and then a sink or kitchentte area as they call it. I couldn't image using this for anything but to make a sandwhich or pop some popcorn, it's very small and does not have a stove but does have a microwave and hot plates. Our microwave did not work in our room but we didn't really need it, as we went out for our meals. The view was perfect, the balcony over looks the ocean, it's a bit small but nice with 2 chairs and a small side table. All of the staff we ran into were great and very accommodating. We did have a problem with the hotel restaurant on the first night it was closed when we tried to get dinner there and both our in room menu and the board at the front of the hotel indicating that it should have been open. This was frustrating since we then had to go out at 8:30 in the evening with 2 young children. On the second day we did eat lunch poolside form the hotel and while my food was good, my mother had to send hers back twice as they burnt her hamburger twice. They ended up compensating us with a gift card, needless to say we ended up having breakfast there the next morning to use the card. It was typical buffet style nothing special but fine. The outdoor pool was not heated and a bit cold but the kids braved the temperature and alternated between the indoor and outdoor pool and hot tub and had a blast. We also rented an umbrella and beach chairs from the hotel and it was set up for us on the beach, I thought this was a wonderful service and something I was glad to pay for since I did not have to lug them in the car or back and forth to our room saving me space and wear and tear on my back. We encountered some minor problems but overall a very nice stay. The hotel is starting to show it's age and could use some updates but it is kept clean and the staff was great.

My husband had a convention here, I decided since we got a group rate to bring our kids. I was very satisfied with our room, the service and the friendliness off all the staff. We were there on a sold out weekend, 2 weddings, a convention, and a college swim team- at no time was parking an issue, the pool, hot tub and bar area were very clean. We did not eat there, chose to go out. The beach.....INCREDIBLE!! By far the best kept secret in the Wilmington area. We live close to NC beaches and typically go several times a year to NC beaches, we have found our new favorite spot! Our room was clean, typical "beach" smells, humidity, bugs - but what do these other reviewers expect, your near the marsh (great to walk thru!) and the ocean, I have stayed at far worse. I hope to go back, I must say it is a bit pricey for a nights stay. We didn't have a chance to turn on the tv's, we actually walked the beach until after 10pm - felt very safe, clean, and wow what a view with a full moon!
