Two friends and I went to the Zevely Inn for a "Girl's Trip" and couldn't have had better accommodations. Three adjacent rooms were unavailable when I called for reservations, but with the patient assistance of the owner, we came up with a plan that worked wonderfully. Two stayed in the two-bedroom Winter Kitchen Suite and one on the second floor. By walking down the back stairs, we were able to get together in mere seconds. We spent a lot of time in front of the beautiful fireplace in the larger of the bedrooms in the suite, and because of the quiet atmosphere felt as if we had the place to ourselves.
The beds were comfortable, the rooms were clean, and the building itself is beautifully decorated. Breakfast was light (we were not there on a weekend, when a full breakfast is served) but good, and the little touches -- like the chocolate chip cookies set out at night -- were thoughtful and helped make the Zevely Inn special.
The kindness of the hostess truly impressed me. She was unusually patient when I was trying to arrange rooms for three of us, and she was quick to offer to make dinner reservations and to offer suggestions of activities in and around Old Salem. She has done a superb job of making the B&B an inviting and attractive inn, but she herself is one of the most outstanding treats of the Zevely Inn.
The larger room in the Winter Kitchen Suite, which can be rfeserved separately from the entire suite...
