Arrived to tour Old Salem and stopped here first to put our name on the list for lunch. There were 7 of us. We were told to expect to wait 45 minutes. We signed in and then went walking around the town. When we came back after 45 minutes, we waited and waited and waited! Unfortunately by this time we were all very hungry but did not want to load all of us up in the car and go searching for a restaurant. There was very little communication with us...would we like to split up our group?, Sorry, but we are unable to accommodate a large group today but we suggest you try the sandwich shop?, etc. We did not know what other options were available...our first visit to the area. Finally, we were seated after apprx. 11/2 hrs. Then the waiting really began...we had to ask them to bring a basket of rolls/muffins for the kids...waited another 35 minutes for our food...sandwiches were good but fries were cold...one order was wrong and when we requested it be corrected we were told that it would take another 20 or so minutes. Overall, it was not a good dining experience. To the credit of the management, they did comp our entire bill. Based on other reviews, I think we just hit this restaurant at an "off time" and with a busy day they should have been more realistic about being able to accommodate our group. The yeast rolls and the muffins were delicious and my pimento cheese sandwich was very good. My husband had the catfish and said that it was very bland. Kids just had hamburgers so no big deal there except for the cold fries that came with the burgers.
