While in Wilmington,we decided to stop for lunch at The George and was pleasantly greeted by a hostess to seat us. We sat at an outside table, under an umbrella with a beautiful afternoon view of the river. We were waited on by Warren, who I found to be very professional, and eager to make our experience worth the trip. He did not hover over our table, giving us just the attention and space we preferred. He is an asset to the eatery. Very happy doing his job. Having waited tables for years, I asked for suggestions. I ordered the fish and chips while my husband had an Oyster Po Boy. I am pleased to say, both were delicious. The fish was fried, though not greasy at all, and served with malt vinegar, tarter and cocktail sauce and I tasted them all. The fries were crisp and not soggy. My husband said his oysters were among the best in the area and the roll was not the standard squishy roll that we have become accustomed to, here in the south. The roll was crispy on the outside and doughy on the inside. After years of living up north, we know good bread..lol. Fabulous! Can't wait to go for dinner one evening, I hear they're steaks are wonderful!
