“Average food. Over priced. Nothing great about this place.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed September 5, 2012 via mobile

We live in Wilmington and have been here three times. Both Elijahs and the Pilot house nearby are average. The view and location are outstanding. But the food is only so so.
The George on the Riverwalk just down the street is by FAR a superior restaurant.

“Great food with a view !”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 5, 2012

We went to celebrate my daughter's birthday at this restaurant on the board walk in Wilmington NC. The food was very good at a fair price. Service was a little slow , especially since it was between lunch and dinner , not many people there. They did bring a dessert to the table with a candle for my daughter's birthday . Didn't charge for the dessert which I thought was very nice. Enjoyed the water right outside the windows .

“Good if right item is ordered”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 19, 2012

We enjoyed the atmosphere at the Pilot House. I ordered the fried seafood and it was "ok"....my husband ordered a fish dish with gravy and it was very good. We probably would not go back again but was ok for a one time stop.

“Shrimp & Grits! Steam Pot!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 18, 2012

For my husband and me, no visit to Wilmington is complete without a stop at the Pilot's House for dinner. Overlooking the Cape Fear River, the restaurant has a lovely atmosphere and attentive service. We've eaten many of the items on the menu, and they've been uniformly great. But we've pretty much settled on our favorites. My husband always gets the Shrimp and Grits, which is a wonderful blend of shrimp, kielbasa and collards, among other items. I always order the Steam Pot. It's packed with shrimp, clams, mussels, oysters and snow crab, which have been steamed in Old Bay seasoning as well as corn and kielbasa. Even basics at this restaurant, such as the caesar salad, are well turned out.

“nice”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 9, 2012

On the down side: the chairs and tables outside are very dirty and dirt-streaked. Really need to be cleaned. It is your typical cheap plastic lawn furniture. Just get out a bottle of Windex.
On the up side: we had a nice time. Pleasant service. Free refills on iced tea. There is one very nice low cost item on the menu, a cold salad w/ shrimp and curry rice at a not outlandish price. Right on the water. The time spent here was pleasant, low-key.
