This was my first visit to Portland Grille. I had heard great things from friends and reviews alike about the food here. We had 8:00 reservation on a Saturday night. We arrived a few minutes early and were promptly ignored for well over 5 minutes. Multiple servers and a manager walked by - with their heads down - refusing to make eye contact with us and the 2-3 other dining parties behind us that were waiting to "check in". When the hostess finally came around the corner she barely greeted us, check us in and herded us to the bar. Where we proceeded to wait for service. When we got seated it took our waiter awhile to greet us as well. He tried to discourage our shared plate selection, made us wait an extremely long time to get wine and water refills. When our food finally arrived, I got the grouper and it was perfect, my boyfriend got the bone-in filet - it came with ice cold mashed potatoes, the waiter dropped it and left. He never once came back to our table even though we were one of only three tables in the dining room. After voicing our complaint about this he apologized and brought us our bill. Which was wrong. Apparently the bar had placed extra drinks - items that we weren't even having - on our bill. This place is way to pricey to be making mistakes like that. And the cold potatoes would not have been a big deal if he came back just once so we could have had them heated up. The service here was truly awful and the good food can't make up for that. I won't be back - not with so many other places to choose from in Wilmington.
