“Azaleas are breathtaking”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 25, 2013

If you're fortunate enough to tour Airlie Gardens when the azaleas are in full bloom, you're in for a real treat. However, it's a gorgeous place, even if you miss the azaleas. The live oaks are spectacular. Amazing how they've survived so many hurricanes.

“Nice relaxing Southern afternoon”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 25, 2013

Beautiful gardens to enjoy on a sultry lazy Southern afternoon. Don't be in a hurry - appreciation increases with laid-back time spent enjoying this one.

“If You Like Gardens, You'll Like Airlie”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 10, 2013

We walked through Airlie Gardens on October 21, which was a beautiful fall day. Filming was taking place at the old Lebanon Chapel on the property, and we could not go in the chapel, but we could walk around it and in the cemetery. Huge live oaks spread themselves across the gardens, which included a lovely lake and gazebo we could walk out to with mute swans, herons, and other waterfowl. There were several lovely fountains,a butterfly house, and some flowers, but Airlie is not, at least at that time of year, primarily a "flower garden." The paths are adjacent to the water for nice views, and there are a quite a few lovely art works in the garden. From the gardens, it is just a short road to Wrightsville Beach. The gardens are easy to locate and the entrance well-marked from the road.

“Nice Walk Through Garden”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed November 3, 2013

Unfortunately, our visit was on a very cold overcast fall morning. My true appreciation is a bit clouded by this. The garden is lovely, and as a bird lover, there were a nice variety of birds seen and heard. There were camellias blooming, so nice to see some color this late in the season.

I think a different time of year would be more impressive.

“Historical Venue”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 25, 2013

Beautiful grounds, flowers, attractions, butterfly enclosure and sculptures. Lots of benches and even a tram tour. Located on inland waterway.
Check it out if you are a gardener.
