“A hidden gem!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 23, 2013

Fish Bites is hidden away next to a gas station so you might not think twice about it. It is amazing and deserves multiple looks! It is so yummy! The decor is lovely and the waitstaff professional. The coconut shrimp are delicious! The zucchini fries make anyone like vegetables. And the hamburgers are terrific! We have eaten here five times in the last six months and have never been disappointed! The bar is cute too. A great spot!

“Excellent meal!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 3, 2013

What a wonderful surprise! From the decor to the service to the beer and of course the food, our recent visit was exceptional! Don't be fooled by the location. Jodi's service was fantastic and the recommendations she made were perfect. Our scallops, stuffed founder and fresh steamer of clams, shrimp, oysters, crab, potato and corn exceeded expectations. The beer selection was regional and delicious. The meal was completed with a coconut cake and a key lime parfait. Our table spanned generations from a three year old to a septuagenarian and all walked away with full bellies and smiles on their faces. If you are looking for truly good food and good service in the surrounding area you cannot do better.

“Good coastal seafood doesn't need a water view”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 17, 2013

This local Wilmington fav is easy to miss, along the roadside midday between Wilmington and Kure Beach. And, you'll probably want to once you get a gander at the strip mall setting, with this tiny restaurant situated between an Urgent Care and gas station. But the welcoming interior is just the start of this wonderful seafood eatery. My family of three was fortunate enough to get a table around 8 pm on a Saturday evening (the restaurant closes at 9 pm). The service was laid-back but attentive; our waiter quickly detected that my wife didn't care for her mixed drink and offered to "doctor it up" so it was would more to her liking. My son selected the crab and shrimp cake appetizer as his meal, and he liked it. My wife's fried shrimp/oyster platter was breaded just right. I had a breaded tuna entree over goat cheese mashed potatoes, asparagus and lobster-stuffed shrimp. The tuna was cooked just right and the potatoes were delicious. The shrimp was a little overdone, with the lobster stuffing containing a bit too much "stuffing." The entree special was about eight dollars more than the regular menu items, which I probably would have enjoyed just as well (but, hey, that was my choice). There's also a small bar area for dining or just drinking, and there were house-made desserts (such as apple cinnamon creme brulee and bourbon pumpkin walnut strudel) which looked good, but we didn't have room to try since the entree portions are plentiful. There's also a lunch menu. For a different slant on familiar coastal cuisine, Fish Bites is well worth the trip.

“Poor service, over cooked Sea Scallops, and grity lobster bisque.”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed November 17, 2013 via mobile

This was my 4th time coming to fish bites but this time makes me want to never come again. Service was horrible and our waiter should have been fired. Lobster bisque is usually amazing but yesterday it was grity and thin. I wouldnt call this a bisque but a soup. Sea Scallops were over cooked and rubbery for $21, I would hope for more. I live 2 hours away.
