“Service was terrific”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 29, 2014

Obviously servers come and go and prior reviews have noted some deficiencies in service. So let me share our experience with you: we had great service. Our server was David a personable charming young man who was not intrusive, but there just when he should be.

The atmosphere is wonderful. This is not offensive French food, but French comfort food. You need not know one word ofmFrench to order or dine. So relax and enjoy a classic bistro.

In the lower price range the French wines are not nearly as good as the California wines that share the wine list. So you need not know French wines and can comfortably order American wines.

There is one oddity about which I joked with the staff. There are two small restrooms. One is labeled for women and the other is labeled for men or women. Now. I believe in equality, I think that takes ismgoodmfor. So I left the seat up. A mild form of protest from someone whose generation practically shut down this great country.

“Pretentiously French”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 27, 2014

My wife and I lunched here last week (July 2014). No complaints about the food or quickness of the service. Our meals were cooked the way we ordered and were very good. Our server was attentive. But keep in mind that this is a French restaurant and has taken on the pretentiousness of the French. We saw that attitude so many times when traveling in France. However, this is a change of pace from your ordinary American menu. Overall, very good food and service.

“hidden gem”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 15, 2014 credit card Amex Card Member Review

This is a consistently great place to eat, tucked into a quaint shopping/dining area close to the water and beaches but with a much different ambience. Great menu with lots of options, a build your own salad with amazing choices, sandwiches, specials, meat, seafood. Their pomme frites are the best and desserts are offered in shot glasses, a perfect opportunity for a tasting. Large wine list with a knowledgable staff with little turnover. Inside dining can get a bit loud if the restaurant is full but they have a lovely patio area if it's not too humid. My last lunch there with a party of 4 was served a salad, grouper with a to die for burre blanc, burger sliders and pork sliders, again lots of choices. It's a definite hit if you are in Wilmington or Wrightsville Beach area.

“One of the best in Wilmington”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 8, 2014

Brasserie is simply one of the best restaurants in Wilmington. I'm a culinary writer and this is my go-to. For lunch, it's hard to beat the salad, though with a soft shelled crab sandwich often on special, mussels frites and a crazy-good rigatoni bolognese on the menu, sometimes it's a hard choice. Dinner always starts with oysters; then it's the flounder, bouillabaisse, duck, or a steak (better than the steakhouse in town); then a decadent dessert like the chocolate pots du creme. The servers are great, the bar fun, and the outdoor seating perfect in the evening.

Beautiful place and a standout for great great lunch with great atmosphere. Heirloom tomatoes, arugula and freshest mozarella salad I ever tasted.
