“Great spot for fall colors”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 25, 2012

We took advantage of a two night special offer to explore the area and enjoy the fall colors. We had a wonderful time in and around Waynesville; we also enjoyed the large room on the 9th hole with a fantastic colorful view over the course into the mountains.

I am very happy that you were able to enjoy a quick fall getaway with us in Waynesville. Thank you for your kind words about the Inn and the surrounding town. I hope we can set up a return trip for you very soon!

We found the Waynesville Inn quaint, convenient and wonderfully clean. Unique is not hyperbole here. Even the negatives are endearing. You'll be glad you stayed.

We stayed in the historic original clubhouse, in a queen non-smoking room with a balcony.

The balcony and its view were the best features. The spacious balcony is tucked beneath the high ceiling of the Cork & Cleaver's open terrace, well-back from the weather, and with an ashtray provided. The view across the restaurant, historic golf links, and up to the mountain ridge beyond are beautiful.

The closet came in second. It swallowed our empty luggage and all of our unpacked stuff.

The charming, pine paneled room itself is quite small, and the bathroom is simply tight, but the large balcony and closet make up for it. The towels seemed very new. Everything was as clean as a whistle. I understand the fairway rooms are standard sized.

We love room service and missed it at Waynesville. Breakfast and dinner were above average. Service is enthusiastic. Breakfast is included (don't forget to tip your waitress based on a $12 value). Generous portions and competitive prices made the tavern a great choice. My classic beef tips entree had an entire NY strip hidden in it.

Here's what lacked: The bed set seems left over from the 1970's, inexplicably. An incredibly cheap mattress with bad springs on one side. The linens felt like pantyhose material. Acrylic foam blanket. The HDTV only received analog cable. The basic fitness room consisted of one treadmill, one elliptical and some dumbbells (this *is* an athletic facility). The front desk staff seemed disinterested.

The location is excellent, moments away from the highway exit, with easy access to both Asheville and the casino at Cherokee. The Blue Ridge Parkway's southernmost segment encircles Waynesville, and there are four recommended access points that include the highest elevation on the entire parkway. On Main St, we ate A+ barbecue at Blue Ridge BBQ Company and bought penny candy at the Mast General Store location.

Room Tip: Ask for a "historic" room with a balcony overlooking the restaurant terrace, golf course a...

We have been to Lake Junaluska and Waynesville many times but never knew this place existed. We picked up a deal on a half price site and are certainly glad that we did. The Inn is beautiful with great food and service. We had a room in the Golfview unit that was very comfortable and had a beautiful view of the golf course and the fall trees. From the time we made the reservation till the time we checked out, we were well taken care of by a friendly and courteous staff. We would certainly recommend either the Tap Room or the Cork and Cleaver for a delicious and well prepared meal. The breakfast which was included in our stay was top notch. When we are in the area the next time, this will be our first choice of places to stay.

Room Tip: Be sure to ask for a room with a view. I understand from other reviews, there may be some rooms tha...

Located at the western end of the little town of Waynesville, NC; the inn is in a beautiful spot. We were given a fairway view room which was huge. The view was of a fairway for sure but the fall foliage on the sides of the fairway and the beautiful mountain view at the end of the golf course was the real story. The golf course is an interesting layout and well maintained. Buffet breakfast in the Cork and Cleaver was great.

We stayed at the Inn during a recent mountatin trip. Room was clean and comfortable. Our package included breakfast which is a treat in itself. Omlettes are made to order. Extensive variety of breakfast foods are provided. We had dinner at the Cork & Cleaver, on-site dining, and enjoyed the food and service. We will return

Room Tip: We enjoy the Mountain View rooms near the golf course. Great views of the mountains

I appreciate your time in sharing your Waynesville experience with the TripAdvisor community. Indeed, we do include hot breakfast with each stay, and it has been a staple of the Inn for many years. I'm so glad you enjoyed it! I hope you will be able to return soon. Safe travels!

We used a Groupon for a two night stay at this resort. It is in a beautiful area with beautiful scenery. Our room was more than adequate for the 2 of us. Yes, it is an older place and the rooms are a little dated, but it was clean and that's what matters to us. We had good nights sleep. The restaurants on premises are very nice with good food. The breakfast was outstanding! The staff was, for the most part, very pleasant and helpful. This is a perfect place to stay at night while touring the area during the day. We had a wonderful time in the area and we feel that we received a great value for what we paid. We are kind of choosy when we are looking for a place to stay and we would return to this place. We would recommend it without hesitation.

Room Tip: We did not stay in the main hotel but an exterior building and it was beautiful and quiet. We asked...

Thank you so much for your kind words regarding the Inn! I am happy to hear you would consider returning in the future, and I am even more excited that you found the staff to be so pleasant and helpful. I will extend your compliments to Housekeeping for the cleanliness of your room, and to the culinary team for the food quality as well. Thanks again!!

We decided to stay here for our 27th wedding anniversary. Many positives about our stay, however, the accomodations for people who want to bring their pets were a little bit of a disappointment. It was comparable to motel 6. We travel quite a bit with our jack russell and this was the first time that we felt like second class citizens for being a pet family. The beds, furniture, and bathroom were definitely no frills. It did have a nice place for walking our dog and a good place to water the dog with avaliable clean up bags. I do realize that some people do not clean up, or take care of their dogs like they should but those of us who do......should be treated better. Balsam spa was the highlight of our trip and I would recommend Amanda for a massage. She was the best!

Thank you so much for your time in sharing your thoughts on the Inn. I understand that it can be frustrating to not have options, but I do hope you can take some solace in Fairway being home to some of our most longstanding customers as well. Thank you for the compliments to the staff - I will certainly let Amanda in the spa know how much your enjoyed her services. Thanks again for your review. I hope you can join us again!
