“vert relaxing stay...good food in restaurant”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 24, 2011

we stayed in a room without a fridge or microwave...both are neede IMO for this price point.
Breakfast is included with with your stay and is very good! We come back!
Pet friendly also.

Room Tip: very clean rooms...has the "lodge feel" to the rooms. If your room does not have a fridge...

A local store owner recommended this restaurant and said it was very good food and ronantic setting. The latter point was true, a cozy room with a big fireplace. The server was very nice and helpful, face us some great ideas for our visit to the area. The food however was a bit dissapointing. I have never seen food come out of the kitchen as fast, my wife had to send hers back as it was not cooked. I think it would have been much more enjoyable if I didn't feel rushed. Overall a good setting, food could use a little makeover. Also make a reservation.

My husband and I stayed in this lovely place for one night, and the experience was great! The room was cozy ,clear and warm. It even gave us a little room map, haha. Breakfast was delicious and has many things to choose from.

Loved this place. I had to stay in Waynesville for a night for work and wanted something a bit more quaint and rustic than your standard inn. This was perfect. You get the benefit of a mountain experience that is unique, special and a tad rustic (stone walls, wood beams, front porch rocking chairs, no clocks, no AC but great windows) while not having to 'rough it' one bit. It also was in a neighborhood but set back into the woods - almost like a camp. Again, mountain, rustic experience without one bit of roughing it. I am a total wimp with roughing it, so trust me - it was great! A perfect mountain accomodation! And - you absolutely must try the lodge for dinner. I went because I was too tired to go anywhere else and man, was I happy! Great wine list, amazing selections, incredible bread, roaring fire - all this and just a few steps back to your room. Make reservations for the restaurant when you book. It was almost full when I was there. Also, they have a full breakfast included in your stay. You even get to select from a menu...great for picky eaters and those with any special food needs. It was also at the main restaurant and you could go at anytime and sit at your own table. Again, the food was great as was the coffee. They even gave me coffee to go b/c they remembered that I had an early meeting. Peaceful perfection! I want to go back - NOW!

We had seen this facility advertised during previous trips to Waynesville, but this was our first stay. Facility is very accurately described on website. Rustic, but very nice. Cozy, comfortable, relaxing. Did not dine on site except for breakfasts, which were excellent. Great staff. We highly recommend. They allow pets, but give everybody a break and leave your dog at home.

Room Tip: Don't get one of the rooms in main building, they are above dining room, somewhat noisey. Rooms...

We stayed here for six nights in July 2011 and thoroughly enjoyed it. It has a rustic, peaceful & cozy atmosphere with all the modern conveniences and an absolutely fabulous restaurant. A full cooked breakfast is included in the rate of the room---so much nicer than just a continental breakfast that other places offer. While there, be sure to eat dinner at least one night in the restaurant because the food is phenomenal, as are the martinis. We stayed in a Rhododendron Room, which was quite roomy with two rocking chairs, a bench, a dresser and a full bath; two rockers outside the room on the porch as well. The owner was very accommodating with any concerns that we had. With a woodsy atmosphere, staying at The Old Stone Inn makes for a peaceful, wonderful vacation.
