I've traveled the Blue Ridge Parkway many times over the last 25 years. I've also visited the Pisgah Inn Restaurant plenty of times over this span of years. I've never felt that the food was great, but it seemed to be better 25 years ago. In recent years I've been pretty disappoined in the food. The quality of the waiters and waitresses varies, but they're seasonal employees not true professionals. So, if they at least try to do a good job I tip them fairly or better. Many of them try to be overly friendly and conversant probably because they feel that will bring a better tip. In my book good, efficient service, not excessive talk will be rewarded. With the food I've learned that I can usually get a decent though pricey hamburger. The bun will usually be soggy and the lettuce, tomato and onions somewhat meager, but the burger tastes fine. If you carry a few apples or other fruit with you on your trip it will help balance that burger with some fiber. Better yet, just drive down highway 276 to Brevard, turn right on highway 64 and head toward the city. You'll find a good variety of restaurants there. That's what I now do for my evening meals when I stay at the Pisgah Inn. Now, their breakfast is different. It's usually fine, and if it isn't tell them the problem and ask for an alternative selection. You'll probably find something suitable at this meal.
