Deans is not the type of restaurant we usually try. Its attached to a small truck stop/gas station/ convenience store. We were in the area early last year were starved and needed gas. We got off at exit 20 on I-40 and saw the place. Got gas and decided what the heck, we would just get a quick sandwich. The place is an old time southern type od diner but with several booths and tables, and counter seating. It was quite busy with what looked like mostly locals. The menu was large and the prices reasonable. They do serve breakfast all day. The food others had looked quite good but we still had sandwiches, me a burger and my wife chicken. Both were very good, large and came with either fries, tater tots, hash browns or home fried potatoes.
Now we are in the area for several months and continue to go to Deans a couple of times a week, for either breakfast or lunch. We were shopping the other day and stopped there for breakfast on the way home. It happened to be Valentines day and the breakfast special was French toast with fresh sliced strawberries, whipped cream (on the side), maple syrup, 3 pieces of bacon or sausage, for $3.49!! We both had that and it was as good as any French toast we have ever had. With coffee our total bill, including tax, was just under $11.
Their service is always excellent, the place is older and nothing fancy but always clean, the people always friendly. One thing to remember If going Sunday morning after churches get out prepare for a wait. But it is worth it.
