Description: Welcome to The Swag! Great country inn of the Great Smoky Mountains. Nestled among eighteen peaks over 6,000 feet this spectacular log and stone lodge is a treasure to be discovered by today's lovers of nature. The old split rail fence marking the boundary of Great Smoky Mountain National Park is a few yards from the Swag Lodge entrance, and well marked hiking trails abound both in the Park and throughout the two hundred fifty acre property of our award-winning Inn. Our own trails are complemented by the national park's vast network of hiking trails carefully mapped to scale and available for all guests and especially enjoyed by the wilderness novice. For over thirty years we have developed and enhanced our fourteen romantic guest rooms with wood-burning fire places, steam showers, balconies, patchwork quilts, and "Ritzy Rustic" amenities galore. Very special dining is a proud tradition at the Swag beginning with hors d'oeuvres and leading up to our chef's four-course dinner. Exceptional country breakfasts and delectable back-pack lunches add to the day's leisure nature walk or the more ambitious high country exploring. Expansive beams, 200 year-old hand-hewn logs and native Appalachian crafts authenticate our desire to capture the romance and integrity of living graciously while authentically close to nature and all its wonder. Our seasonal inn operates from mid-April through November. Located near Waynesville, thirty miles west of Asheville, North Carolina.

“Never want to leave!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 13, 2012 via mobile

Beautiful bed and breakfast in the mountains of western NC! Accommodations and food are outstanding! The hosts are so friendly and gracious, they make you feel right at home. Celebrated 3 birthdays here and would like to come back every year! If you love to hike, or just lay in a hammock and take in the amazing scenery, this is the perfect place!

“Classy, high-end mountain retreat.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 25, 2012

My brother has been here over twenty times, and finally decided it was time to take his little brother. We have roots in North Carolina, and I know now why he keep this place his secret. We stayed in the two-story cabin, which was very spacious and rustic, but you got the feel of luxury all around you. The food was expertly prepared by trained chefs, and there was almost one server or employee for everyone that was staying there. It is worth every penny once you see the spectacular view from atop Deener's mountain. She and her gracious husband were outstanding innkeepers, and I hope my brother invites me again.

“Fabulous, Enchanting”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 31, 2012

From the moment you call for a reservation till you put down the last spoon, you feel special. No courtesy is spared, in order to make you feel special. It was my husband's birthday, not only did they personalize his Birthday Card they gave him a lovely gift of two black bears that are wine bottle huggers. You choose your dinner the morning before, bring your own wine and enjoy the view of the Smokey Mts. from 5000ft up. Plan ahead, hard to get in, but well worth the wait. If your lucky there may even be a story teller to enjoy after dinner.
