The Moss House is a great choice for Washington. The staff are friendly and accomodating. You can walk just a few blocks to main street where there are some great antique shops and restaurants.
The rooms are spacious and beautifully decorated

What a wonderful B and B - Owners Scott and Becky are on-site and think of everything, from a complimentary supply of endless toilerties if you forgot or run out of something to complimentary soda and water, and a complimentary book about historic washington homes. Mattress was absolutely perfect,....Breakfast was excellent - what you would expect to find in fine dining.....Room was large and and spotless... Highly recommend.

They made us welcome from the start and gave us special treatment because it was our 36th anniversary. The food was excellent. We will definitely return.

We have stayed at the Moss House four times now, and although we love the other sites of Washington, NC, one of our chief reasons for dropping through town is to have another wonderful stay at the Moss House!
The location and historic beauty of the house draws me back time, the rooms and furnishings make me feel like royalty, and the breakfasts! . . .(sigh) wonderful & creative. I could go on and on and mention the chocolates in the rooms, snacks available to guests at all hours, and the warm smiles of Rebecca and Scott. . . but enough! Just take our advice and go for a visit!

My boyfriend and I, both 25, were looking for a nice get-away to celebrate our 1-year anniversary. We narrowed our choices down to The Hilton and The Moss House. We made the right choice.

We decided to stay at The Moss House because of the personalized service and overall experience that is advertised through the website. I must say, the website is spot-on.

The service was impeccable. We were greeted upon arrival (even though we were very late) and graciously welcomed into the house. We were given a brief tour of the house and our room. We were also invited to peruse the books and games and offered complimentary soda & water. When asked about local restaurants, Beckie & Scott took the time to tell us about the local favorites, as well as give detailed directions and overall impressions.

Service. In the Moss House, we were not only provided several shampoos, conditioners, wash clothes, and towels (for only a one-night stay!) but also luxurious robes, make-up removal towels, breath mints, and an assortment of other goodies. Not to mention the chocolates on our nightstand.

Our room was nicely decorated, very cozy and warm, and extremely clean. The bed was luxurious and provided an amazing night's sleep. It had nice comfortable sheets & TONS of pillows, with a ceiling fan overhead.

The breakfast was amazing. We were served an assortment of juices, tea, & coffee. The breakfast was a 4-course gourmet meal ranging from buttermilk orange pancakes w/ tropical fruit salsa to freshly baked orange scones & fruit-topped greek yogurt. Delicious! Beckie even let me take home the leftover scones!

Overall, our stay at The Moss house was outstanding! It was everything we were looking for and more. The room-rates are well-beyond fair. The house is beautiful, comfortable, and elegant. Perhaps best of all, the owners of The Moss House are delightful, friendly, funny, and excellent hosts.

Whether you're considering a hotel or a bed-and-breakfast: this is the right choice!

To start I should say that we went out to Washington for a very specific purpose--my partner and I were racing in a triathlon on Saturday. I say that because I've traveled for many races, but never before have I had such a pleasant pre-race morning, all thanks to the Moss House staff.

Most of the other guests there that weekend were racing as well and the staff was ready to accomodate. Our room was spacious, clean and very comfortable with all of the little extras that you could want (including a mini-fridge int he hallway with waters and some soda). Beckie and Scott were up early to make us a very nice pre-race breakfast of fresh fruit, english muffins, juice and much-needed coffee at 5:30 and even prepared a "proper" breakfast when we returned later in the day. The Moss House is also really conveniently located, both for racing purposes (only a quick, 5 minute drive), and for some post-race exploration of the town. We could easily walk from the Moss House to the stores and restaurants along the Washington waterfront.

We had a great race-weekend, due in part to our stay at the Moss House. We'll be back any time the triathlon calendar takes us to the Washington area.

My husband and I stumbled upon the Moss House B and B as we travelled from NJ to Georgia. Our GPS brought it up under lodging in the area and after a call to Becky we were lucky to find a room available. The home is beautiful and well decorated. Becky and her husband were so personable and welcoming. They recommended restaurants and we were able to walk there and after dinner enjoyed a beautiful strole along the waterfront. Breakfast the next morning was absoutly delicious and included fresh fruit, home made bread and the Moss House version of eggs benedict. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit and would return again were we in the area.
