“Tranquility at it's best!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 25, 2014

Over 11 miles of hiking; including a boardwalk over a swamp to enjoy wildlife in it's natural environment. Primitive and group camping but limited spots so plan accordingly. Popups and tents only, not for larger RVs. They allow up to two tents and two cars.
The Pamlico River offers swimming, fishing, and paddle trails. Lots of osprey viewing. Great for family gatherings. I went intending to make this a quick trip, but easily spent no less than three hours there just looking around exploring.

“Great Location!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 2, 2014

Over 11 miles of hiking trails, including a boardwalk, on the beach, a swimming area, and an outlook onto the Pamlico River. Highly recommend! It's very well maintained, and the staff are great.

“A Gem of a Park”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 29, 2014

Goose Creek has so much to offer. It lies on the Pamlico River with swimming, fishing, and paddle trails. Over the last 20 years, I have enjoyed the miles of trails through pine and hardwood forests. There is a fine campground and picnic areas along the trails. You will find a really informative environmental education center with a museum of wildlife typically found in the park. It is a rare hike that I haven't seen deer, otters, even bald eagles and osprey! Less than 10 miles from Bath, Blackbeard's home, there are remains of old tar kilns thought to be as much as 300 years old. Rendering pine tar from once abundant long leaf pines in colonial days, you can imagine the tar being used on Blackbeard's ship, just down the river! Summer is the best time to visit fro swimming and water sports, cooler months suit most for hiking and camping. Website is http://www.ncparks.gov/Visit/parks/gocr/main.php
